Clone Wars content in future waves?!

By Jimbo2142, in Star Wars: Armada

I wouldn't mind seeing ships/characters from the Clone wars but I want to see them in the state they would be in during the Galactic Civil War.

We know the Empire and the Rebellion both have ships in their fleets that entered service during or before the clone wars and are still in service during the GCW (Arquintes Cruiser, Pelta class frigate, Gozanti Cruiser, Y-wings, and even the Mellenium Falcon.

If we see characters I would like to see their aged up versions. (Rex, Ahsoka, Wulf Ylaran, or any others that survived TCWs and went on to serve in TGCW.

What I do not want to see is characters that were not alive or did not fight in TGCW (Young Anakin, General Greivous, Jedi Master Plo'koon)

Keep the time frame in the Galactic Civil war. Any ships or characters who were in that conflict no matter their origin are a welcome addition to the game, any that were not in service during that time frame should not be in the game.

Exactly raider not Raider. If it was referring to the ship class the first letter should have been capitalized. Also I'm under the impression tha Raiders are supposed to be more focused on anti-fighter weapons then other weapons but given how gun counting works in Star Wars ten if the Raider class has 20 guns it would have 6 anti-fighter guns and 14 Ion canons and turbolasers. (As an example the Falcon has 2 Quad Lasers in every stat source I've seen not 8 Lasers in 2 quad mounts so there is no reason to believe that the Raider's 6 Dual Heavy Laser cannons would be counted as 12 guns.

And it is possible that the raider was a typo meant to be Raider but nothing has confirmed that AFAIK. I would like the Raider to be made canon I'm not certain that Lost Stars did so though.

Is it not canon already by virtue of being released after Disney took over?

Yes it is, Disney has stated that everything released under the Disney banner is Canon (within reason, we all know and understand that the millions of games of battlefront played during the battle of Hoth are not canon but any characters, ships or concepts used are canon)

Extending this logic we can assume that the raider (which was designed with assistance from Lucasfilm) is canon but the battle of the FLGS is not :)

Actually, I believe that the canon of X Wing and Armada releases are not necessarily firm.

I think they are more like the old EU, very soft canon.

Potentially,

I doubt they would make republic and cis ships (without making armada 2 or a serious big box style expansion! but you could get some clone wars era ships in future waves. The Venator class was still used by the Empire in the outer rim and by the Penistar allignment warlords in the eu post endor. Since we have scum ships now you could also have some cis ships make future waves, municifent frigates and the Lucerhurk trade federation battleships are good examples of these that were used by the black sun. Sorry about the terrible ship spelling in advance

Only after a long, long time in a design project far, far away.

Regardless of what most people think about the quality of Star Wars prequels, I doubt FFG would find tapping into them more profitable than riding the crest of the upcoming trilogy.

I dont know about that. The way I see it, the more ships they make, the more ships we buy. Sure they need to space them out, but while small ships for both sides are plentiful, additional mediums and larges are few and far between. The Clone Wars had a nice selection of both.

Canon is pretty meh to me now a days with Star Wars. I only care for more prepainted plastic ships that look cool and put WizKids products to shame!

I still haven't forgiven them fo scrapping Pirates, when they changed ownership.

Pirates? Was that the rumored live action show that was seemingly going nowhere?

It was a game based on styrene cards, which were cut, and punched out to nicely buildable ships. It was pretty fun, and not too expensive. Well, let me amend that to at any one time, as I think about the 2 boxes of them I have (though I inherited 2 other people's sets.)

Here's an OK,

Each of the ships was unique, and there were a few options in the game that were more powerful than others, but overall, within the system, most things had uses. It was very simple, but lots of fun. I think the standard game was 40 points (objective was treasure, though if they lose all their ships, they don't capture any treasure, now do they? ;) Locally, it was a lot of fun to play, with a common strategy being a warship and a treasure ship.), and of course, there were the huge fleet battles, with up to 4 people on a side, and lots of ships per side.

Oh I was thinking you meant something Star Wars related but yeah it does sound like fun.

description of the rules. Here's a better one, but not great focusing on the ships/history.

Does this game have any re-sale value nowadays? I have a good set of this game at home in my loft.

This and Mechwarrior: Dark age were actually pretty cool games.
