I've been trying to come up with some unorthodox ways to implement the upcoming cloaking device. In my mind I keep going back to the Starviper as a decent candidate. Now unfortunately the two named pilots are not really ideal candidates for using it. Xizor's ability would likely never get used if he turned into a super flanker, so you'd effectively be paying a premium for his higher pilot skill. Guri in my mind is a more ideal option, however, her middle of the road skill would turn her into an expensive generic pilot hunter. The free focus token she gets helps at least a little with action economy, and with the new re positioning possibilities, she can make more use of it.

Currently an idea I have floating in my head is this

Guri's Starviper, 40 points total.

FCS

Illicit Cloaking

Stygium Particle Accelerator

Now unfortunately the Starviper doesn't have a ton of greens to run PTL off of. But after seeing what Poe can do with BB-8 I have some hopes. The idea here is that Guri's Viper will be getting free evade actions after cloaking or decloaking, and I am hoping she can basically decloak, get a free evade action, PTL triggers and allows her to boost or barrel roll to further change position... potentially flipping up a green maneuver on her turn and clearing that stress so she can use her other re positioning action. With FCS, her ability, and the free evade, she gets some decent action economy, but this is still not ideal.

Her pilot skill and the stress this generates is bad, and it would require some hardcore maneuvering to preemptively outmaneuver higher skilled guys. There is also the danger that her cloak will just break and leave her with a lot of dead weight points in her mod and illicit.

She is also 40 points, but that is the same as some of the loaded phantoms. And she also gets more green dice when defending than the phantoms, but green dice only mean so much....and so does cloaking without the Imperial only advanced cloaking device, which really makes higher skilled phantoms shine.

Problems with this build

1.) Ptl viper is bad and exceptional redundant with cloak mobility

2.) Stygium is just asking to lose 4 points instead of two when the dice inevitably **** you over

Stick to thrusters, it'd be a superior choice even without the needless RNG

Yeah the lack of greens is a real wrench in the gears of this plan, especially the lack of turns. Those one banks being the only green turns really stinks... definitely torpedoes the viability, I agree. I guess the thing I had been focusing on has been the ability to leapfrog off of the free evade actions to get more mobility and dodging potential than anything else. I really have a feeling that the cloaking device is gonna be more of a ridiculously silly kind of thing than a real game changer. Cloaking HWKs providing hilarity rather than something being legitimately dangerous.... though, a cloaking Talonbane Cobra could be something.

Push the limit is not terrible, but it is only worthwhile if you have Advanced Sensors. Then it actually is like BB-8 (use advanced sensors to take action, push the limit for a 2nd action and stress, then reveal your dial, which will be green most of the time, to clear the stress right away). Except, you can only do a max of 2 actions per turn. But, you do have some additional perks: you can fly over asteroids and still have your action and you still get your action even if you are going to bump into another ship.

However, Fickle is right here---you don't really need push the limit and cloaking ability together. You'd be better off with predator or lone wolf. Either of those sort of makes FCS redundant (not so much with lone wolf though), but really, sensor jammer is where its at. Gives you protection against twin laser turrets and also if you can run something else in the squad that denies actions (such as a blocker or two, or even Palob), then Guri becomes a nightmare to deal with.

My suggestion:

Guri w/ lone wolf, virago, sensor jammer, cloak device & autothrusters = 41

Its a bit pricey though...
