Sense Force/hidding in the Force

Hidding in the Force And making a force perception roll

here is something i've not made my mind up about just yet. How to use sense in you're game, when i say sense i mean like in a "detect Magic" sorta way. and not with the sense power. So, detecting a disturbance in the force, i've come up with 2 ways.

1: Players with the sense power gets to do a hidden Detect disturbance, rolled by the GM/ST

2: A form of passive sense,

All force active players get a hidden roll by the Gm/st, the dice pool being force dice. (Luke sense finn in the force, Lukes Gm rolls a hidden roll, Lukes force Rating is 5 so he gets to use 5 dice in the roll. Finn only have a Force rating of 1, so Lukes diff is 4. Luke's player roll 2 successes and luke detects a presence nearby. The diff being 5 minus force rating of the target. so the stronger the target is in the force the easyer it is getting detected.

hiding in the Force,

I know the Shadow have a talent to hide, but i was also thinking of a more passive way to hide,

hide in the force: The Force user dedicate ALL his force dice to hide in the force via meditation, after the meditation the user becomes "immune" to the passive detect roll, however, if the user should use any force skill he will break this immunity, and he will generate a sudden ripple in the force, giver a free roll to all nearby force users.

or is there something I've missed in FoD

Thanks

Challenging....

In the line of having the force "just work" why not go for the simplest solution possible....

While using no powers or talents, flip a Dpoint to keep your forceness hidden until then end of the encounter or until you use a force power or talent. Someone hiding their forceness my be discovered by another nearby (typically Medium range or closer, but variable by the GM and narrative) force user who expends a dpoint and passes a daunting (base) Vigilance check.

Simple, straightforward, difficult enough, and based on an appropriate and less-used skill that even a Jedi Master might not detect a Sith Lord right in front of him.

EDIT: Forgot the Shroud Talent, Vilainn6 is right on.

The shadow specialization as the shroud talent that basicely allow you to hide in the force.

I dont agree with creating house rules that make talents useless to buy.

I'm pretty sure that you could also use the Yoda method and hide by hanging out near a vergence in the force that is strong in the opposing side.

i wonder how darth sidius did it? or maybe it's not something you even would feel even for masters? my guess is sith sorcery

He did it through the the power of Plot.

He has XP invested in the Shadow tree.

Either sith sorcery or sith force technique, I think that it's shown in the EU that the sith of old had ways to hide that they were dark side users.

Usually characters are unable to detect other force sensitive unless they are actively calling on the force, hence how Vader was unaware of his son's identity for so long. It would make sense in sidious's case, since he basically did as little as possible and let the fog of war muck the force enough so that it wasn't possible to pinpoint the sith; best place to hide scum is in scum, and most polticians in this galaxy are.

Basically, it's at the speed of plot. If the party kick up a ruckus with the force, an inquisitor shows up. Don't do anything too crazy? Then an inquistor mightn't notice for some time, though due to their specialised training they have a tendency to stick around much more then any other adversary.

The Jedi had to "test" children that were not exhibiting some kind of unusual ability. Vader saying "The Force is strong with this one" might not be a declaration of actual force ability being detected, but rather the Star Wars way of saying "This guy is sure lucky/awesome etc." Palpatine was a master of reading people and playing with their fears, insecurities and weaknesses. Enhancing a social check with the Force probably should be very difficult to detect. (I assume the hand gestures made in such instances were stage direction to help the audience know the force was in use.)
