Will they make non canon ships illegal in tournaments?

By darthkray, in X-Wing

I was thinking seriously about this subject today.

And while I agree with everyone that non-cannon ships that already exist will never be made illegal, I do wonder if Disney might step in and prevent any more EU ships being made and demand some sort of phase out of production for them.

Don't see why. They make just as much money from non-canon merchandise as from canon merchandise.

The canon wipe was done mainly to free up creative space for the movies and other fiction. Non-canon material appearing in a game like X-Wing does nothing to limit creative space.

^too ugly, too much role overlap, only differing role elements vs. the Lambda are for stuff that doesn't matter 1 iota to this game.

I like the Sentinel as a source of turret upgrades for the Imperials.

And really, have a little bit more faith in the designers. If they decided to do it, they would do a good job at differentiating it.

It's competing with the space Higgens boat for that design space.

"Competing" here meaning "this design space is in the same category as adding bongos".

Better turret source would be the Skipray or even the TIE/ag.

Won't argue with that, but given a choice of troop transports (which in essence the Lambda is, though not in the same number) I figure the FO Higgins would win over the Sentinel. Don't really need either though.

Would definitely take the Skipray... kind of odd it hasn't show up yet (or Thrawn/Pellaeon for that matter).
