Ion Cannons, yo.

By JgzMan, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I have devised this fleet that I am calling "Ion Cannons, yo." It seems to be able to smash most things right up, but I think it will have trouble with manuverable enemies.

ISD-I (148)

Admiral Screed (26)

Boosted Comms (4)

Expanded hanger Bay (5)

Relentless (3)

VSD-II (102)

Intel Officer (7)

NK-7 Ion Cannon (10)

VSD-II (102)

Intel Officer (7)

NK-7 Ion Cannon (10)

Howlrunner (16)

TIE Fighter (8)

TIE Fighter (8)

TIE Fighter (8)

TIE Fighter (8)

Opening Salvo

Contested Outpost

Minefields

With Screed and the VSDs, I expect the enemy to lose at least 2 defence tokens a turn. After a round or two of that, the ISD should be able to start melting faces at my convienance. TIE's of course, to keep the bombers off me.

Thoughts?

I'm not the most experienced, but I feel like your initial concern about maneuverable enemies is on point. The ISD is actually the most maneuverable threat in your list. You don't have anything like a Gladiator or bombers to herd targets under your guns. You have enough ships to spread them around and try to use their larger arcs to cover a lot of territory, at least.

I don't know about Contested Outpost as an objective for this group. I'm guessing you're hoping to bait them to come at you or lose objective points, but that concentrates and slows your ships, which will likely have Ackbar grinning. I would consider Fleet Ambush to pull their fleet apart a bit and get some targets closer to those VSDs.

I have nothing to contribute but laughter at the name of your list.

Can't stop chuckling.

I can hear Jesse Pinkman saying it in my head, and I don't even like that show!
