We still need to see Dengar and the Echo Base Troopers. Personally, I can't wait to see what the EBTs bring to the table as a huge fan of Trooper lists and would love new toys for them (I want to see Fenn become awesome, dammit!).
What will be spoiled today?
Echo base troopers which we have known since last week's article. It tells you at the end of the article.
Thanks, I missed that.
And the FFG trend of suggestions that don't work continues:
"If your strike team is focused around a single powerful figure, such as Luke Skywalker, you could certain do worse than to equip him with Combat Suit to ensure that he stays alive as long as possible."
Except for the whole part where Luke is not a Leader, Guardian or Trooper (yet). Han, Chewbacca, and Leia could all make use of the suit, but Luke's in the cold.
Would also be pretty fun on someone like Vader, Weiss or Royal Guards.

Ugh. Been there done that.
On the spoiler itself:
Front line provides an expected damage bonus in the following circumstances: The attack is at range 1 (obv) or a basic EBT is attacking a black dice model at range 2. In other circumstances it's worse.
Both versions of the troopers seem solid but not fantastic.
Combat suit doesn't seem worth a point to me (though I won't complain about it on the elites).
Efficient travel is situational but the other two command cards both seem pretty solid.

Nice catch on not being able to be used on Luke, I wasn't paying attention to the key words.
You got my mind in that direction though. It couldn't work on Vader, Weiss or Royal Guards because it's a rebel upgrade ![]()
I can see the use of Combat Suit on figure groups that are already durable. Important to consider that often enemies must pierce to do damage, and a cancelled pierce result is, in those cases, as good as a block.
I'd rather pay the 1 point to add it to my Wookiees than the 3 points top upgrade them to Elite.
Efficient Travel will be highly swingy based on the map. For example, it will be strong on Mos Eisley Cantina, but weaker on the other two current maps. Makes it difficult to justify.
Hard to Hit is pretty great all around.
Not sure Against the Odds is worth it either. By taking it, you're betting that you'll get 8 points down in the majority of your games, and I don't think the focuses will be a reliable way to make up the points.
I know FFG own rights for Game of Thrones too, but why is Jon Snow on the 'Against All Odds' artwork?
I don't know if I'd use it anyway, but it would be nice if Combat Suit could be attached to the Wookiee Warriors. I think the Rebels are kind of short of good options to put it on. I think it might combo best with Gaarkhan, with his decent durability.
As for the troopers themselves, I like them. Even the regulars are much less likely to be one-shotted than Rebel Troopers. They have decent accuracy at a range and good damage in melee. And I think people might be underestimating Efficient Travel. I think the elite troopers are about on par for the 8-cost, 2-figure groups, because of their flexibility. Their dice and surges give them a good shot at medium to long range, and they can really do some damage in melee. They're near the upper end of mobility for that crowd, and their 8 health + combat suit means they have at least fair durability.
It will be good to get my hands on these and see how they actually play.

Except for the little hurdle of Wookies being neither Troopers, Leaders nor Guardians.
Currently only Rebel Troopers, Echo Troopers, Gideon Argus, Fenn Signis, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Gaarkhan and Leia are eligible to take the suit. Out of those, Gaarkhan, Fenn and Chewbacca are the only ones I'd ever consider giving it to, but then again they aren't exactly stellar pieces in the first place.

2 Echo elites - 16
1 Rebel trooper Elites - 9
Fenn - 10
C3p0
Gideon
=
40
Throw Focus on Fenn and Echo elites.
Mix in the awesome leader and trooper CCs and It could make a halfway decent list.
Why not
2x Echo elites
Leia
Luke
Gideon
C-3PO
or
4x Reg Echo
Luke
Gideon
C-3PO
?
I don't like Fenn, he is .. to less for his points.
Can use the Combat Suit:
Troopers - Fenn Signis, Rebel Troopers, Echo Troopers,
Leaders - Gideon Argus, Han Solo, and Leia (Fenn again)
Guardians - Chewbacca, Gaarkhan
Question: Can it be used on scum characters that get brought onto the Rebel team in a skirmish? Even though it doesn't matter because there are no scum troopers, leaders or guardians

Leia
Luke
Gideon

Fenn may be better if he's teamed up with some Echo Troopers who can benefit from his Assault ability. Though at 10 points with a Combat Suit, he's competing with Luke for space on the list.
Yeah and I believe a trooper being able to move and shoot with reroll is better then a trooper attacking 2 times.
