Do docked ships maintain their pilot ability?

E.G. can I have Jonus on the Gozanti, and get the Jonus Bonus before deploying him?

We don't know 100% for certain! but almost certainly not. Docked ships will probably not be considered "in play" yet, which means they won't actually be there for their abilities to be active. It's conceivable that the rules for the gozanti might say something differ, but very unlikely.

I kind of hope that's the case. Or if there's some mechanic for targeting/destroying docked ships if their abilities do actually carry over. Or something.

Well, if the area-of-effect abilities are still active, stands to reason the ship in question is also effected by area-of-effect damage, making Assault Missiles, Ruthlessness, and Bombs extra viable...

One of the most compelling reasons why the docked ships will be considered "not in play" until they deploy. If those ships don't exist until they launch, then there doesn't need to be much in the way of a FAQ, if you want to try and say they exist, have effect and are targetable, that opens up a HUGE can of worms rules and interactions wise.

I wouldn't be surprised if they deploy like the Nashtah Pup if the ship carrying them is destroyed too. I can't see FFG having the Gozanti potentially be this game-ending disaster if you blow it up with all its TIEs still docked.

Bear in mind that each Epic ship has its own individual damage deck - so it would be very easy to build things that effect docked ships into the game via specific crits.

In terms of being able to use the pilot abilities of docked ships I dunno - first reaction is that it feels a little cheesy

The reason Nashtah Pup deploys the way it does because it is inside of the "Hound's Tooth". The Tie fighters are docked externally to the Gozanti. I believe that the Tie fighters could be damaged while docked (Whether they could be individually targeted in attacks, damage dice results transferred over to the fighters or as a result in a ship's damage deck card remains to be seen). With regards to pilot's ability, most of those are worded so as it can only work while the fighter is deployed. I kind of believe that all pilot abilities will only work when the craft is deployed.

If he keeps his TIEs docked for that long then he deserves to lose them all.
