Jacen - Jaina E-wing Jedi Aces idea

By aelith, in X-Wing

Disney doesn't care about the past. Only the future. I'm sure all pilots going forward will be in the disney canon. I could be wrong, but doubt it.

Every wave has had characters from the old canon. If you're assuming everything in X-Wing is current canon, then you're dead wrong. Kyle Katarn, Mara Jade, Ysanne Isard, Corran Horn are a few examples of characters most likely completely erased in the new canon.

EDIT: Additionally, Disney wouldn't just decide they are only using characters from the new canon in X-Wing now . They've had content rights over X-Wing since they acquired the Star Wars license. And they are still using characters from the old canon (Miranda Doni is the first that comes to mind from the most recent wave).

I'm not saying everything currently in x-wing is disney canon. I'm saying going forward. Disney didn't have new material when they gained the rights. Would have been dumb to just stop making product until a new canon was established. Now that the ball is really going they have no need for the EU. Hence I believe that they'll stop going to eat for material. I am not sure but I think the rpg just rolled into the new canon. X-wing can't be too far behind.

I don't like what the New Jedi Order did to the characters and the galaxy at large. However, I'd be a filthy liar if I said I didn't enjoy those books. I liked them well enough that I wanted to play a Vong character in an RPG. I'm not sure I'd enjoy the stories now, but I ate them up as an impressionable young man in my early 20s. What I didn't like were the following 9-book story arcs. I had to keep reading to learn what happened, but didn't really enjoy it. Same for the Killik trilogy. Now I'm old enough that if I don't like it, I'll just put it away. That's what I did with Aftermath.

Inflamatory statement: I'd rather read the NJO all over again than read garbage like Aftermath and Lost Stars.

I wouldn't mind seeing a PS 89 Jaina and a PS 4/5 Jacen.

Nothing is without flaws. The killik trilogy was terrible!

That being said. If this new canon becomes bloated will they just reboot again?

Jaina definitely a ps9.

We'll see. Myself I expect at least another couple ships from galaxies to fluff out the scum line.

Ah, always good to see some EU hate show in a thread. Jacen was not a great pilot if I remember correctly. Jaina was amazing though. Real pity we'll never see her in a stealth x.

I also believe we'll never see any EU pilots and very much doubt EU ships will appear again.

AW YEAH, THE BOILING HATRED FOR THE THING!

I am sure if FFG had to do the YT1300 expansion again, the stats would be the same for all characters (ORS) and the falcon title would incorporate the extra firepower etc as well as the EU. I mean, look at Dengar with Punishing one.

Edited by DariusAPB

Unlikely.

Falcon title should actually add a huge number of things (Han tweaked dat hunk'o'junk real hard.

It's more than just "add some more lazors"

Yeah I was sarcastic, but that's largely because the idea FFG won't use EU is... utterly silly. Dengar was in ESB, as was Zuckuss and 4-LOM they were always canon. Ships, not so much.

That's why I was saying we'll likely continue to see the re-canonification of older ships and possibly pilots .

This, simply because there is not enough non-EU post-CW material to support X-Wing: TMG.

Also, Rebels, just like The Clone Wars before it, basically mines the EU for story material. What they don't like, they change. See the appearance of the pre-Wing in Rebels and the ugly Z-95 in Clone Wars. What is not certain is whether the stuff that is recycled by X-Wing now is canon (I know what Disney said, but how exactly does X-Wing TMG count?). For example, there are no references the New Republic in any flavour text that I can see.

There's PLENTY of epic things in I-II-III episode eras, no need to get into the "some 40 years after Yavin the same mary sue bantacrap happens again and again"

Epic things like the Force Planet?

You don't spend just over $4 billion to sell someone elses characters and story lines. Besides, Finn and Rey need to end up somewhere.

I doubt we see either of them as pilots for T-70s. Crew, yes, maybe piloting a certain YT-1300, but honestly that remains to be seen.

ARC-170 ,Belbullab-22, Naboo fighters.

Vulture swarm!!!11

Way better than the "we took the rebel ships and said new ones are just better" expanded

If JJ is the only arguement against it then...

We might one day see it.

Alex and Frank, the primary designers for X-Wing at FFG, made it fairly clear in an interview at the recent Worlds that they have no plans to do anything from E1-3 for the game. It's all Civil War and onwards.

And then they will run out of ships.

We've seen the declarative statements before in many places made by many people.

Since Episode VII has surfaced, I think it's safe to say these two will never see the light of day.

*Breathes a sigh of relief*

And good riddance, too. The PT ship designers tried too hard to out-do the OT and the EU. The Republic is supposed to be an era of stagnation and decline. According to the designers, it's an era of glass cockpits and hypermanoeverability, in which every trooper has a smartphone and a tablet.

The republic is an era of cultural and political decline.

Technologically not much changed.

And yeah, don't speak about GLASS COCKPITS.

WINDOWS™ are part of Lucas' special derphysics of SPEEHS.

He even has thick vacuum in which spaceships act as if it's atmospheric combat, albeit without gravity.

Clone troopers were state-of-art equipped soldiers.

The very idea of a full scale war is much more epic than the whole "derp-and-fade" war with rebels.

Prequels had nice designs. It's hard to not_outdo the OT in design department.

Who's to say that it's not a metal cockpit with interior and exterior holographic projection?

Laser swords in space.

Magic.

The next step up is armour made of infants.

Writing proper hard sci-fi is not easy. Hard Sci-Fi has laser battles at millions of kilometres, with capital ships slowly and silently scragging each other, machines doing all the fighting, and no human characters because they're extinct. Accept it as space fantasy with WWII-in-space elements and you'll enjoy it with your feeble human brain because SPEHSS IS BORINGZ.

Speaking of derp... They will never do the naboo fighter. The designers don't want to do it, they've said they don't want to do it, and those three films have secured a special cave of loathing in too many millions of hearts to ever be seen as a viable theme-mine to go digging in.

Their failure as films was so monumental it led to the incineration of a pretty good actor's career, the sale of the Star Wars franchise, and now, open ridicule in the Droid Tales (which is a surprisingly great series!)

As for running out of ships - are you kidding? There are currently at least four new star wars film in preproduction. More than one StarWars film a year, for the foreseeable future. Series, animated or otherwise, will follow. RPGs, shooters, and sims will be available on your console. The mouse seems to have figured out how to make decent star wars comics happen, and the novels will be aplenty. Lots of material for ffg to have their wicked way with!

And I can't believe you rate the prequel design team over the OT's, Warpman. Remind me never to go clothes shopping with you! If you like art deco knockoff in space, well, I guess that's a thing that's... Nice for you?

Good god it was 15 years ago.

OT worship is mostly a duckling syndrome.

Worst case of it, actually.

Some people claim to hate PT even without watching it. You know, trendy...

Derp?

Half of designs are derp. in a special way.

Either you love that derp or you hate it. You can't loe that derp here and hate it because OMG PT!!!11

as Lampyridae said (and he's right 100% here)

it's a special sort of it.

It's thick vacuum, plasma-lazor-whatever beams, torpedoes that change course 90'

Space Pizza cruisers, maneuverable Ties, that have (okay, twin!) ion engines located right in it's tail (or is it butt?)

(what makes it's super NON-maneuverable)

Spehhs magics, Mary Sues everywhere, 9\10 planets have Earth conditions and humanoids are classically everywhere.

SPEHHS PLASMA NEON SWORDS...

Summing up: OT is the same sort of DERP PT is.

Either you love that derp or you don't.

What I always ask myself is, "I wonder what people would think of Yoda these days? A silly puppet with Grover's voice- how un-Star Wars! Completely messes with my sense of reality. Where did my childhood go!?"

Good god it was 15 years ago.

Yes, and it has to be said that the visual design of ep. I-III was excellent, especially the first two, which had Doug Chiang's work. Adding in Lucas' style of directing aimed at visual storytelling, I find it hard to think of a better looking film, where visuals and story match so seamlessly. (As a Zhang Yimou fan, I have to mention Hero though.)
