Jacen - Jaina E-wing Jedi Aces idea

By aelith, in X-Wing

It would be neat for them to appear as a pair, since they have jedi abilities and are twins,

- They could complementing each other in the likes of IG-88 does,

or

- Maybe giving themselves bonus when they are at distance 1-2 like one extra dice in offese (jaina) and defense (jacen).

or

- Copy each other's actions as a free actions at distance 1 (ie, jacen gets focus, jaina gets a free focus action)

The counter could be separate them with blockers, stress or ion.

We also need some more jedi-ish abilities in the game besides changing dice results! Like,

jedi mind trick: switch the dial to another of the same speed

trust the force: action: ignore stress inducing this round

Since Episode VII has surfaced, I think it's safe to say these two will never see the light of day.

Agreed. We will never see the Solo twins.

I was never a fan but I'm sure some were and would have liked to see them.

Meh. They had been sort of ruined by the time of the sale.

HOPEFULLY this weird family line Bantacrap will be retconned to hell.

Fixed.

Hell indicates it exists but is sucky. Oblivion would be total non-existance. Along with the Vong...

Actually it's not the vong that deserve to be sent to oblivion, but the whole family affair and nonsensual Mary Sue characters that deserve teh DERP BAT

We will never see those Solo twins. That doesn't mean there aren't solo twins though.

Solo twins ... sounds like a bit of an oxymoron to me.

I like to think of "Legends" as a different time line from Canon. The split coming practically come from a question "Did the Vong ever come to the Star Wars galaxy?"

If yes, you follow the Legends story line.
If no, you follow the Canon story line.

Working on this branch of thought, most of the Legends characters in Xwing still make sense in the Canon universe, just they end up leading mostly uneventful lives as Rebel pilots against the Empire and or Remnants of the Empire. As for the Ewing and Kwing as ship designs in Canon, well someone decided to make the Ewing probably sometime between the Episode 6 - 7, everyone decided it was the ugliest thing ever, so they sent it to random Hyperspace coordinates to never be seen again. It landed on Cobalt and they modelled the Viper off of it. The Kwing was more of "The Homer" of the Star Wars universe. The shipyard that designed it soon went bankrupt.

E-wing sort of exists in the Yoda chronicles Lego verse...sorta. Works for me. When they do rebel aces II they need to repaint it black, cause it's just cool.

Well it is a different timeline/canon from the new one/GL's old one, the Star Wars of my childhood.

I tend to agree that by the Vong era everything had been pretty much ruined (and feel that the whole point of all the NJO/whatever novels was to kill/destroy everything before it).

A better question is would the twins be flying E-wings? I thought Twin Suns Squadron was flying XJs (now T-70s) or similar...

Ah, always good to see some EU hate show in a thread. Jacen was not a great pilot if I remember correctly. Jaina was amazing though. Real pity we'll never see her in a stealth x.

I also believe we'll never see any EU pilots and very much doubt EU ships will appear again.

Yeaaaaaahhhhhh noooooooooooooo that's not believable.

Too much precedent for EU ships and pilots. Wave 8's incoming, and only waves 1 and 2 did not have EU presence. (Unless you count pilot cards ,in which case even they did).

Disney doesn't care about the past. Only the future. I'm sure all pilots going forward will be in the disney canon. I could be wrong, but doubt it.

Every wave has had characters from the old canon. If you're assuming everything in X-Wing is current canon, then you're dead wrong. Kyle Katarn, Mara Jade, Ysanne Isard, Corran Horn are a few examples of characters most likely completely erased in the new canon.

EDIT: Additionally, Disney wouldn't just decide they are only using characters from the new canon in X-Wing now . They've had content rights over X-Wing since they acquired the Star Wars license. And they are still using characters from the old canon (Miranda Doni is the first that comes to mind from the most recent wave).

You don't spend just over $4 billion to sell someone elses characters and story lines. Besides, Finn and Rey need to end up somewhere.

I don't like what the New Jedi Order did to the characters and the galaxy at large. However, I'd be a filthy liar if I said I didn't enjoy those books. I liked them well enough that I wanted to play a Vong character in an RPG. I'm not sure I'd enjoy the stories now, but I ate them up as an impressionable young man in my early 20s. What I didn't like were the following 9-book story arcs. I had to keep reading to learn what happened, but didn't really enjoy it. Same for the Killik trilogy. Now I'm old enough that if I don't like it, I'll just put it away. That's what I did with Aftermath.

Inflamatory statement: I'd rather read the NJO all over again than read garbage like Aftermath and Lost Stars.

I wouldn't mind seeing a PS 8/9 Jaina and a PS 4/5 Jacen.

The problem is that you've already been proven wrong.

Show me - please any sightings of Dengar's Jumpmaster, the hounds tooth the mist hunter or the Khiraxz in new canon.

I'll save you the effort. They aren't there. Wave 8... that's an impressive number. I mean they must have been using EU ships since what... oh yes wait, Wave 3. Again, these are just the ships. EU pilots have been in since literally the beginning. Wave 1: Howlrunner is EU, Tim Horton is EU.

What you will see is the canonization of older ships. Ships like the HWK, Decimator or TIE Defender, you know ships that you know Disney will totally for..... oh wait, they are all canon now? Star wars commander you say. ho hum.

Well obviously but this thread is specifically about Jaina and Jacen and I doubt we see any solo twins considering it seems Han and Leia are not together but maybe they were and then split due to the kids or irreconcilable differences lime all the celebrity marriages do. :)

My point was that Jacen and Jaina are effectively done, and my curiosity as to how we may see Finn and Rey in the game in future releases. Don't get your knickers in a twist over anything that's EU or not.

I'm not sure if you're intentionally trying to come across as frothing and spittle-mouthed in your post, but that's kind of how it reads. Besides, I never consider it a problem if someone points out something. You may, but I don't have any issues with it. So snark away if that's your thing.

FFG needed something to fill the gap between Disney publicly announcing the purchase of Star Wars. It's not like they were going to release a game in 2012, then sit on it for almost 3 years with nothing being released due to NDAs for the new story lines. They needed something to fill so they went to dig out some old stuff to fill the ranks.

The arrival of Zuckuss and 4-Lom just round out the Bounty Hunters as revealed, ever so briefly, in E5. Dengar has already shown up in Aftermath. Oh, spoiler alert.

The Ghost and TIE Advanced Prototype, along with the Gozanti, are all heavily a part of Star Wars: Rebels

Yeah I was sarcastic, but that's largely because the idea FFG won't use EU is... utterly silly. Dengar was in ESB, as was Zuckuss and 4-LOM they were always canon. Ships, not so much.

That's why I was saying we'll likely continue to see the re-canonification of older ships and possibly pilots .
