Vrillbot and friends

By Pimpbacca, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Vrill loves pounding stressers.

So I tried a game with something like this ( I can't remember and accidentally overwrote the save):

YT-2400 Vrill, HLC

Stress bot grey Y with TLT

Yellow Y with Ion.

Predictably I was out PS'd and maneuvered then gunned down by some brobots. Admittedly the dice were not being friendly that night and I need more pilot practice. Took 1 out, but the other was barely scratched.

So I needed a higher PS pilot and tried this list in the next game against a bunch of imperials. Did OK but still lost.

YT-2400 Vrill, Recon specialist. (32 + 3)

Stressbot Grey, TLT, R3-A2 (28+6+2) *edit* BTL-A4

Poe Dameron, Vet instincts, R5-P9, Autothrusters (31+1+3+2)

100

I feel the list has merits, but I'd like to hear thoughts on how to improve it. Stress bot TLT grey needs to stay, because it can shoot before Vrill. Vrill stays obviously, but am open to all other suggestions and accompanying tactics.

Cheers.

P.

Ive got very similar list in mind;

My take is to utilise Vrill for not only what is in effect a 3die PWT against stressed ships but to also leverage his low PS and barrel rolling large base to be a brilliant blocker for Poe by taking Intelligence agent in the crew slot.

In my thread that I linked, taking a WSF with a canon instead was an interesting alternative but I'm looking forward to trying Vrill out first.

Pimpbacca, I ran the same list as yours yesterday. You can see my post in kopmcginty's thread above.

I really liked the build. Once the stress started piling up on the Gray, its attacks became very poor though. But it did its job, which is to "superstress" the opponent's ships, denying them actions for many rounds and enabling Vrill's ability.
