2015 "Holiday" Vassal Tournament - Signup and Commentary Station

By BiggsIRL, in Star Wars: Armada

Only 3 rounds then?

Wasn't that the schedule? (I know I wouldn't mind a 4th, but I thought you'd Biggs said 3.)

Yeah, it looks like it's 3. Looks like that's it! Thanks for doing all the stats at the end, good stuff.

I think Ard wanted to do a post-tournament stats collection similar to what he did before the tournament started.

Yeah, I should get some time in the next couple of days to sit down and have more fun with Excel. :)

Technically there's still about 21 hours left, but yeah, no one can take Truthiness and his crown at 27 tournament points. Congratulations.

Folks that still haven't checked in with a score / "can't schedule" are as follows:

* = Outstanding Game

Highest we can get from the outstandings are 19 total, so we have our top 4!

Truthiness with his 3 ship Rebels and "Bees" takes first with 27 total points. Congratulations.

HERO with 3 ship Heavy Upgrade Rebels takes 2nd place with 25 points.

JJs 5 ship Rebels take 3rd with 24 points, and Gowtah's 4 ship rebels takes 4th.

Zanos looks to be the highest ranked Imperial at 5th (pending an exceptionally one sided Reath28 win).

Man 11 points...

My worst tournament ever!! :(

Aww well had tons of fun and definitely learned a lot thanks to all of my Opponents :)

And with this pretty much done, it's time to start thinking about the next Vassal related fun to be had.

I think that starting in the new year, it'll be time for another tournament. This one more like Clontroper's "Pod" based tournament, with players being matched up with other people roughly within their time zones in pods of 4 or so.

Then, we'll take the top 2 tournament scores from each pod, and match them up against one another in elimination rounds! It'll be the Vassal World Cup!

Casting a vote here for the pod construct. It would certainly help me: I ended up playing 2/3 games against guys who were fortunately very accommodating in their scheduling, because we had 12-hour time differences. I'm sure others were less able to flex, so pods would surely help with all the no-show/couldn't-schedule issues we had with this one.

Agreed. Being stuck out here on the left coast means my late-night availability is very limiting for scheduling with the rest of the continent, very apparent with rounds 2 and 3 of the holiday tournament. :(

5th place and top imperial huh? do I get s fancy forum sticker for that? :D

Really great experience guys, I loved it. Great people, great games, I'm so stoked for more Armada now.

I heartily endorse this e-vent or product. :)

My opponent did not show up during the agreed upon time.

I didn't get to play a single game this tournament. Finals caught up to me for my first game which I couldn't make, and then my opponents didn't show for game 2 and game 3.

That majorly sucks.

This tournament was great, thanks to my opponents Qark and Ardaedhel - was fantastic and not too bad for my first few games of Armada! Learned a lot and had fun doing it.

And thanks to BiggsIRL for doing all the organisation.

Apologies again to Caribbean Ninja that my schedule meant we couldn't play, harass me for a game whenever :)

Merry Christmas All, may your presents be filled with fleets.

Look for a new thread some time next week for the World Cup.

This is completely my bad, for some reason my notifications did not go off for his response. I am very keen to play the R3 game but we missed the cut off due to an issue on my end. I have messaged Ceryliae back just now.

On a side note the Tournament was a great event from my perspective. It was really good to be able to play with a wide range of people.

:D :D :D

Hey guys, got a bunch of end-of-game stats done, and then keep getting too busy to post and interpret them. So, until I get around to it, here are the spreadsheets I used. They're sloppy, but you should be able to make sense of them. There are pivot tables on different sheets for most of the interesting win related stats.
