2 player F&D Campaign advice

By Neredan Kaz, in Game Masters

I would like to ask the more experienced GM s for tips and suggestions for running a 2 player Force and Destiny Campaign.

Also, besides adjusting the encounters, shall I let them pick 2 resources?

In my experience, you will have to use more deus ex machina stunts with two players because things can go down south quickly without a thrird or fourth player to save the day. Even if you adjust your encounters adequately, combats will always be more swingy.

Make encounters with possible "exits", or prepare your deus ex machina in advance so that it doesn't feel artificial when it comes.

Outside combat, you have the perfect opportunity for covert operative missions, infiltration and small scale heists type games. It easy to get the players into action and to tailor the adventure to the specific characters you have.

It's can also be a game where your characters can have overlapping skills rather than trying to fill every possible niche. A duo of generalists can work in a two-player game even if those characters normally don't feel satisfying in larger groups.

Droid campanion for an NPC. Every Luke needs and R2.

I was going to suggest the same.

I'm going to run a one-player FaD game with a friend, and I'm plannig to give him a droid companion. On top of that, allies and friends that may help once in a while.

give them a master and play a clone war campaign.

Thanks guys for your responses. I gave the characters 30 extra xp after character creation. Here are the characters choices:

Chiss Protector/Soresu Defender

Chiss Seer/Ataru Striker

Group resource: Mentor

The timeline is 30 years ABY.

I thought of creating an NPC Pilot (maybe an Ataru Striker/Starfighter Pilot) with a ship who can drop them wherever they need to, and goes away.

Consider an astromech droid. They make the perfect "drop players and go away/hide" toolbox NPCs
