Actually I was surprised they let as many types to dock as they did, I was expecting just Fighters to be able to do so.
Why not any type of Tie on a Gonzati?
I for one will be plugging in every ship in my collection to see what will physically fit under there. Thanks FFG for the most interactive playset you've ever released!
I hope the upcoming announcement (my personal hope) for the CR-90 deployment rules just say: "... up to 3 A-wings and/or X-wings... these ship models are placed near the playmat until deployed" (like the Nashtah Pup).
I hope FFG doesn't sell us a whole new blockade runner or little adapters... we don't need no stinkin' adapters. ![]()
This would make Jabba's yatch easier on the designers- easier than trying to fit six M3-A's or Z-95's in its hangar.

How do you get "upside down" in space?
How do you get "upside down" in space?
When you look at the Fighters relative to the Carrier. The access hatch typicaly being on top of the TIEs also is somewhat relevant.
I too was hoping ANY type of TIE could be loaded. I'm more upset that the four TIEs it carries must be uniform. I happen to love using Advanced to run along side Bombers as support.
Allowing the Gozanti to dock any mix of allowable ties will be the most popular house rule won't it?
Perhaps that proved too powerful in playtesting.
Scum Gozanti with scum b-wings docked by their 'tail gun'. Gonna be awesome!
Uniformity: I guess they might've been bothered by the logical argument that you only really want the two interceptor aces?
Soontir, Carnor, and then round out with Mauler Mithel and Backstabber/Scourge (Remember, the mid-game deployment happens after normal movement, so the two are almost guaranteed to get that sweet Range1 shot for a 4-die shot!) might've just been too darn convinient.
Personally, I think it would've been fabulous. And as noted, the Rebels show does show them doing mix'n'match anyway, eh? Maybe we can hope for a title; the rule there so that full squadrons are more organised. ![]()
Well 4 delta defenders+ Gozanti is going to run you 160 points Before upgrades, so it kind of make sense. 4 sigma's and a gozanti before upgrades would be 140, which is a bit better, but at the same time, not a good idea. they are both supposed to be self sustaining dog fighters.

Considering it was a different type of ship that housed the A-wings, it makes sense that they would make a different ship for that.
Gozanti loaded with Vader, Juno, stele and one of the other aces is just scary. Range one shots or procket alpha strike (maybe).
Of course you don't have to dock four ships, could be fewer.
There are alot of good responses to my question and I agree with most. I'm not sure I buy the "it would cost too many points" argument. There are do many super fat ships out there in regular and Epic plsy, that I doubt the designers said " if we allow Defenders, Phantoms, or Punishers it will take up too many squad points" Seems unlikely. I think the best argument is still size/model orientation. And as far as why no different types, that also makes no sense to me and I'm sure my play group will house rule that.
@dewbie420:
I thought the A-wings were connected to the command ship, not the corvettes. I would love to see the command ship but it would be too big for Huge size. Maybe Super Huge though, if they choose to do that.

North, west, east, south, up, and down are galactic cardinal directions.

When your feet are pointed due up, and your head is pointed due down, you are as we say; upside-down.

Oh, I forgot. Ok, let's get that Corvette huge aces set with green A-wing and docking clamps!
To be fair, concerning the mixing of TIEs and the TIE Advanced Prototype on one ship, that particular Gozanti WAS a rebel craft at that point. ![]()
For the most part, I think you'll find that apart from any space concerns caused by "wings", the main reason is that the docking clamp fits a "Ball cockpit", with about the lower third of the ball going into the clamp.
This would automatically prevent any ship that does not have a TIE ball with a peg socket at the base fitting - so no Phantom, Bomber, Punisher, etc...

^Bomber 'fits' the upgrade, if not the actual model

and yet "Bomber" is allowed.

Yeah ... weird right ... particularly given the photo above ... have to check out my bomber models when I get home ... might be there's something about the shape of the area where the peg hole is that lets it fit ...

I am pretty satisfied with those restrictions. It forces the non-imperial Imperial players to play more according to Imperial navy doctrines ![]()
Phantom and defender have wings that would negate the functionality of docking hatches (in practice, not on model). Punisher too fat.
Quoted because here's the answers guys.
Every Imperial ship that is restricted bar the punisher has a wing or fin over the cockpit hatch, and the punisher is too **** big to carry.
