Disarming someone dual weilding?

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Okay, quick question for you guys: Character A is dual wielding a pair of swords. Character B rolls well enough to disarm them. Does the dual wielder lose one sword or both swords. I can see an argument going both ways. How would you rule that?

I would say drops 1 sword. If the character was holding a data pad and a sword then the enemy disarmed them then most would not expect the player to drop the data pad as well as the sword (although if the Data Pad is the MacGuffin then the GM may ask that the item dropped is the Data Pad instead of the sword!)

If the disarmament was due to a need for both hands such as catching themselves from falling then dropping both would make sense.

If they roll a pair of Triumphs or 6 A's I'd allow a double disarm. The chart talks about dropping "a melee or ranged weapon" for 1 Triumph or 3 Advantages. and the rule interpretations tend to be very literal when they are submitted for dev review.

If you have the triumph or advantage to spend then sure, the opposition drops both. But for 1 Triumph or 3 advantage then just 1 thing is dropped.

If he used Aim maneuver to disarm so he should have a target. If he just uses Advantages I would say 3 for 1 sword, 3 more of the other. Obviously advantages apply to the Aim as well, he could disarm both hand.

I would say spend 3 adv per item disarmed. Player gets to decide what is disarmed. It is after all their adv.

I'm all for allowing double triumph/6 advantage to double disarm. However, the book does say that only strain recovery can be activated multiple times. So technically, per RAW, you could not double activate disarm.

Way around this is Sum Djem. Which at the GM's discretion can be used for both (or more) disarms. Or if the GM is against it, then Sum Djem for one disarm and normal disarm for the second.

Is this player versus player, or player versus big bad evil guy? The reason I ask is what best suits the story. If it happens to a player the triumph will disarm ONE weapon. If a villian and seems dramatic enough and an opportunity to tell a better story, then disarm both.

It's reasonable to assume only one weapon per result. One of the advantages of holding two weapons.
