Get these:

1 K-Wing << miranda and dash makes a great couple. Also 2 TLTs for your turret ships

1 Tie Punisher << twin ion helps your defender and other Ties in general. Redline & Deathrain are pretty fun as well

1 E-wing << corran if dash prefers a male partner instead

1 Slave-1 << for stealth devices since you're not into S&V yet

Predator comes in only the Defender and Kihraxz sets. It's a pretty useful card, so don't be surprised if you find yourself wanting two at some point. Not urgent until then, though. I'd get the second from the Kihraxz, rather than getting another defender (one defender is plenty until they fix the overcosting issue).

I'd suggest a star viper for autothrusters and an interceptor blister for Soontir Fel. Then a must wanted pack to get some intro scum squads. Then a k-wing for twin laser turrets.

Apart from the interceptor which other imp ships do you suggest? There doesn't seem to be any more that are worth getting more than one of.

Yeah, I have to agree for the most part. Getting your hands on the TA x1 title and Advanced Targeting Computer from the Raider box really unlocks the TIE Advanced, but that's expensive. You can pick the pair of cards up secondhand for $10-15, if you need to. Once you have some of the cards, running two TAs isn't an awful idea (but again, expensive for tournament play).

Then, I'd just build squads and play with them. Eventually you'll hit a squad that you really want to try, but are missing some bits for. Let that drive your next purchase. I'm pretty much a "one of everything" type, and then get multiples to satisfy my curiosity about how a given list performs.

Grivoire's list isn't bad either.

Two's enough. Three's just rubbing your opponent's nose in it.
