A NEW reason to justify at least THREE Gozantis!!!

By Plainsman, in X-Wing

Before three Gozantis was justifiable by the fact they could carry a full squadron of 12 Tie fighters! Now we have a NEW reason, COMBINED SQUADRONS!!! It will take at least three Gozantis to carry the Interceptors, Bombers and Fighters into the fight! If you want Advanced AND F/Os, that means MORE GOZANTIS!!! :)

WOW!!! We asked for the Gozanti and FFG gave us all kinds of reasons to buy LOTS of Gozantis!!!

The FO don't fit, though.

Getting one is going to be hard enough for me...... $$$

but fun idea!

3 Gozantis with just Docking Clamps, 4 Academy TIEs, 4 Scimitars, and 4 Alphas comes out to 304 point and costs 6 epic points.

3 Gozantis... costs 6 epic points.

Do we know this for sure? I'm assuming the Gozanti fills 2 Epic points but don't recall seeing this verified.

I don't think FFG has said anything reagarding the cost in epic points yet. I can't see the Gozanti coming in at one with the Transport being 2. If they put it at three points then Imperials would only ever be able to field a single epic ship.

The highly probably guess will be that the Gozantis will fill 2 epic points. A player may only have up to 5 epic points of ships.

Welcome to Epic for those of you just tuning in! This ship is a game changer, as was the Raider. I think we're finally going to see some quality Epic support from FFG (and interest from more players).

The FO don't fit, though.

The Tie/FO is still a Tie Fighter like the T70 is a X-Wing.

So, it fits.

We dont let things like points limit what we want to play!! If the Gozanti is 2-3 Epic points so be it! We'll have games that allow 15 Epic points then and 1000 points per side if necessary!!!

This IS EPIC PLAY after all!!!!

The /fo has longer guns than the /ln, so it physically might not fit.

I have my reservations about the Advanced and Bomber models as well, but we will see.

I would love to see two Gozantis loaded with just unique pilots zipping across the table. Throw in a couple large ships if you got the room.

The FO don't fit, though.

Ah, ah, but.

By that logic, neither does the TIE Advanced V1 but we know from the show that this cannot be the case. Remember.

Integrated Astromech says "X-Wing Only"- that doesn't mean the T-70 can't use it. TFA has introduced classes of ships.

After all, The TIE Advanced X1 has a Hyperdrive. Isn't it a little odd that you would need a Gozanti to carry it? But the V1 does not have such a hyperdrive. It is simply a very advanced TIE Fighter.

Just something to mull over.

Using the show/movies as justifications for the rules is a very, very bad idea. We don't know how it will work out just yet.

I really don't need the temptation for a 3rd. I already want 2. And i don't care what the rules say, I am going to load up the Gozanti's with whatever TIE I want. And take pictures. Can't wait to have my white walled TIEs on it.

In otherwords... it is REAL STAR WARS.

So I love the epic models but haven't started playing epic since I've been favoring the imperials for the last year or so and didn't want to buy rebel epic ships. Haven't been playing epic means I haven't been doing my homework on it either. What is the benefit of docking t the ships versus just flying then into the fight?

The FO don't fit, though.

So, it fits.

The key part, as I understand it, is that it is called the "TIE/FO Fighter". Because it fully contains the words "TIE Fighter" in the name, it is eligible for anything that pertains to "TIE Fighter".

Ships can't be shot at while docked. This lets you get ships in closer without having them picked off while still pretty far out.

Also, huge ships move after all large and small ships do. The Gozanti can launch two ships when it completes it's Manuever (and another two in the same turn if it has Engine Booster or Chiraneau). This lets you put your ships in a position that they'll have high PS arc dodgers in arc.

We're not 100% sure yet, but the odds are good that it should let deployed ships travel further on turn 1 (because the Epic ship will have moved before deployment), and also move after every other small and large ship- Huge ships activate in their own phase after all the small and large ships have activated.

So: an academy pilot deploying from a Gozanti will always move _after_ a non deploying VI Vader. It's only for one turn, and doesn't affect shooting, but definitely will be a bit of a benefit.

One of the nice things about epic points being given in the epic rules is that they are really easy for FFG to tune.

3 Gozantis... costs 6 epic points.

Right now the current pattern is that corvets cost 3 epic points and transport cost 2. Just look for the epic symbols and count them. Both sections cards have an epic symbol and the base tile as well. So Corvette Fore and Corvette Aft plus corvett base is 3 epic points. Transport card and transport base is 2.

Now in epic dogfight it is 300 points with 5 epic points so you can take a corvette or transport or 2 transports. Team Epic is 200 points per with 3 epic points (total of 400 points with 6 epic points) Sure 3 transports can fit in 6 but the problem is that it is split between 2 players so still stuck at 2 huge ships at most.

Just like TIE/sa Bomber and TIE/IN Interceptor

Right. But in this case we're talking about the actual letters and characters that FFG has used to describe the pieces in the game. This game does not use "/ln" to describe any of the ships in play, even though one of the pieces in the game is based on what is- universe- the "TIE/Ln Fighter".

It's a small thing, but I think FFG has been making it an important thing recently.
