I don't have photoshop, but Inkscape (a free program) has the ability to import individual PDF pages and separate the layers and parts of the image into its base parts. This lets you delete/modify parts to your heart's content.
Edited by AstechI am not aware if all people here are aware of the most excellent HotAC Custom content Facebook group?

I'm there!
Anyway, could you guys upload the new content in the Files section of the Facebook group, for easy access? I'm looking specially for the player sheet someone made for dual Z-95s.
Huh. I never posted the Death Star here.
fixed .
Thematic pilots only at the moment but it's been pretty solid. Players 2, AI 1. Next run we're going to beta with our campaign pilots and see what breaks.
OK, I did my own dual Z-95s. Tell me if this would work:
There's nothing wrong with the upgrade slots, but I can't honestly tell you how flying two bad ships works compared to the others. Given the buddy nature of this build, you might allow Attani mindlink just for lulz.

ATT2 really suffers in HotAC - just ask the A-wing.
I think Ten Numb on both and Etahn on one is the best way to get decent damage out. Maybe Chopper on both to profit from blocks, and a couple of Assault Missiles backed by Extra munitions to give them a shot against swarms. It's doable, but not as strong as the other options available.
Now three Z-95s (with more limited upgrades), that I might consider over an ARC or X-wing.
Yeah, the A-Wing needs a ton of help, and the HWK is also not god's shining miracle.

I find the great problem is not the ship you get, but how the XP is handled in HotAC. Here we make an XP "pool", divided between all players at the end of the mission. This encourages more support roles instead of just a "Kill Kill Kill" mindset.
Yes, but even then it only really works with siginificantly more than two players.

Sure. You can't get support ships supporting just support ships.

I'm most interested in additional content, as I'm currently enjoying playing HotAC. Are those resources available outside of FB?
It would be great to have additional scenarios with the same cardboard (maybe including more recent ships) as the current v.0.7. Preferably, playtested ... I understand that a new version is being worked on, but not yet published.

I'd recommend Battlestar Pallas *cough
The defenders of the empire link does not include all the latest files which are on bgg. Most noticeably is the mugaari campaign. This currently has missions 5-7 of the overall series uploaded but 8-10 are being tested and should be up in a month.
great to see drop box links for so much content though, well done.
My only real problem with XP pools is that not everybody in real life is equal, and a pool system means you just have a squadron of carbon-copy pilots. Feel like a pool system would work if you only split some of the XP, though. So the player gets the XP for the damage, since that XP was gained through personal maneuvering and other flying "skill" (not that there is any skill to red/green dice probabilities, but hey), but the Kill XP is shared as a group accomplishment, giving less incentive to poach. Typically the ships engaging are the ones at a higher individual risk as well since they are maintaining close proximity to the enemy. Support ships are still getting assist XP if they are participating.
Kill a TIE Fighter? 1 XP to you, 1XP for the pool. Get the last hit on an Elite Interceptor? 1 XP for you, 2XP for the pool, 1XP to everyone as usual. It's not perfect, but it's less arbitrary than a pool system which just suggests every pilot is making an equal contribution which is rarely true.
Thanks for the links! Great stuff, well appreciated.

Gaming is not equal real life. Most games out there advance the "party" together - after all, they are working as a group. And come on, you don't need to choose the same "skills" for every pilot.
Anyway, if a pilot die or it's captured, the replacing pilots will be fresh new, right? That also creates a sense of reality (flying the rookies alongside the veterans).
When we divide our XP polls, the pilots with most kills get the spare points. That's sort of a way to reward them.
You're free to play how your group wants, lol. I was just presenting an alternate version that makes more sense, rather than being focused solely on gaming equality. When I said carbon copy, I just mean equal XP totals.
Personally, I like games where there are squad goals, and individual goals. And I'm sure other people do to since the concept dates back to 1st or 2nd Edition Dungeons & Dragons. What I presented is the compromise that discourages poaching, and recognizes the team effort, but still appeals to players who like some sort of individual achievement. It also acknowledges the elevated risk the more aggressive players expose themselves to. Do you guys split XP penalties when people get shot down?
And how many pilots have ever died or been captured in your games? The probability of that is 1.6% per craft loss in neutral space. I've never seen it happen in all the games of HotAC we played, so I can't imagine other groups are having some sort of epidemic of pilots deaths. It is
Heroes
of the Aturi Cluster, after all. Not "The Guys With the Red and Black Tiger Striped Helmets of the Aturi Cluster."
With a group XP pool, you still don't dole out the XP equally among all players. You can easily give one more and one less, depending on which upgrades are built in. This makes upgrading a group effort, which I find rather nice.
Defenders of the empire v1.6 is now up on bgg file page. 10 missions done.
As a question, i recently got into the game, and am looking to try and make my own stuff (pilot cards/AI movement cards etc). What program does everyone use to make these things?

Different people use different programs, some use photoshop, I use Microsoft publisher as I get it for free from work.
You will want to google x wing miniatures ships font and install it so you can get all the icons to type as text, much easier than finding the symbols and copying them lol.
