By the name of this topic, and the quote at the beginning, you probably think that I am making something about Tie Defenders. Well I am. I have been trying for a while to make a good AND fun Tie Defender build. I made one that was really op, but I didn't enjoy playing it. Here it is.

I really didn't enjoy playing this one, for this soul reason; I didn't get to use Defender very effectively. I would love a squad, (with the cards I have,) that would be fun and good to use. Here are the cards I am working with.

Can anyone give me a good Tie Defender build?

P.S. I love using Interceptors, so if you could incorporate that, I would love it.

Only if you really like them. They are not the "best" ship the Empire has. I have 2. When I use them, I use both. Adding 2 more Bombers is higher on the priority list...

I'm working on getting Soontir and the Decimator, seems pretty boss to me. I love Interceptors more, so I think I'll lean towards Soontir.

If you ever do epic, including Rexlar and Tarkin is pure epic win.

Other than that, I doubt you can get a truly optimized list with a Defender in it. You can get good lists, and fun lists, and good, fun lists, but not hyper-efficient optimized lists - the Defender just costs too much for what you can do with it.

A lot of people are hoping for an Aces pack including new Defender pilots, as well as titles and modifications designed to give it a boost.

I am playing with Vessery crack hlc, ps 4 punisher extra munitions homing, Yorr Vader crew. It can push to drop a Y or K wing pretty hard. Vader crew is a little bit of insurance vs Soontir. I actually think the defender is pretty OK vs rebel aces.

Here's an updated classic:

Soontir Fel w/ push the limit, royal guard, autothrusters & target comp = 34

2 Onyx squad w/ TIE MK 2 engines = 33 x 2

You can of course play around with things a bit (2 generic defenders + ace interceptor). Its not hyper competitive, but it can do alright.

If you like Vessery, this one might be slightly more competitive:

Vessery w/ HLC, veteran instincts (or crack shot if you prefer) = 43

Soontir Fel w/ push the limit, royal guard, autothrusters & target comp = 34

Lt Colzet w/ x-1 title & FCS = 23

When Comm Relay is available, it will probably be better to replace Colzet with an Epsilon w/ Comm Relay. This gives you enough points for a hull upgrade on Vessery and a 1 pt initiative bid.

Colzet and Ves are two of my favorite traps. I like taht you get Soontir with them in that squad.

Carnor Jax: push the limit, royal guard title, autothrusters & hull upgrade = 34.

Same cost as both Soontirs above. Can sub him in if that's all you have (and he's no slouch!). Warning! Carnor is NOT easy to use! In fact, I think he takes more careful flying than Soontir (because less tokens = more squishy). Do not rush him into range 1 of enemies JUST to get value out of his ability. Ideally, you want him to flank so that the opponent focusses on your other ships and then he can mosey into range 1 and make your opponent pull his hair out in frustration ;)

But if he gets focus fired on, Jax will die, so watch out!
