With the Ghost is has a mechanical benefit... I can't figure out what this docking will do for the Gozanti besides look cool

you know how those ships that move quickly but get destroyed easily are in epic, like say 0 sheild interceptors. now do I HAVE A DEAL FOR YOU. sneak em in with the Gozanti, then get behind your Enemy's line with a Phunky Phresh K-Turn and worry not for that pesky engage at range 3

Wedge + VI (or whoever) moves at PS11.

Gozanti moves after Wedge.

TIE's deploy after the Gozanti has moved.

They may execute a maneuver and an action.

Two TIEs just deployed behind your PS11 ship.

It's now time for combat.

well these are space bunkers. not limited to your Terrain based earth bunkers.

Epic ships move last. you speed your Gozanti ahead, and release your normally moving first academies last. You get to see where everybody else has moved, set your dials and then you get ready for next round, for maximum blockage? Or have I missed something, its been a while since I read the epic rules.

Put your end game ship on it (Vader, Fel). Don't deploy it until enemy huge ship can no longer 1 shot it.

Or, 2 X Black Squadron + DTF that you wait to deploy until shields are low and unrecoverable or something, pulling crits away from your cruiser.

Deploy bombers with bombs to lay mass murder on the swarm trailing the cruiser

Stuff like that.

No, you are right. Not just for blocking though, you can deploy ships behind arc dodgers, making it harder for them to run.

It was pretty clear from Team Covenant's interview of Frank Brooks and Alex Davy that the deployment mechanic for the Gozanti and Ghost will allow the exiting ship(s) to shoot right away on the same round, while for the Hounds' Tooth's Nashtah Pup, it can't shoot right away because it's busy trying to survive.

Off the bat you can use it to slingshot TIEs (move the Gozanti, then launch them off the Gozanti). That also gives them a reaction advantage: they move last. That's pretty useful with interceptors and fighters that like close range.

Furthermore, I think it's very likely indeed that there'll be cargo and titles that confer other benefits to docking TIEs.

No, Jonus is not in play.

Also.. and this is really minor

Gozers can't carry TIE Bombers.
