Wave 3 possible announcement date?

By Goknights12, in Star Wars: Armada

I know, I know, Wave 2 isn't even out yet.... although it should have been, but when does the Wave 3 get announced? I just would hate Armada to turn into the SWLCG, that got hurt so badly by not having the new stuff come out quick enough. So with the date prediction, any ideas what we may see?

Imps- Interdictor (Spelling), Tartan Crusier

Rebels- Maurauder Crusier, Corellian Gun Ship

Squads- Phantom, E-Wing and such?

Could we see an epic ship come in the form of a SSD?

If they are smart, it will include Force Awakens ships, just like X-Wing.

I would like to see the First Order Star Destroyer, for example.

If wave three includes ep7 stuff, I would anticipate an annoucement to be timed with the movie release. If not, then I would hope as soon as wave two hits stores, maybe a week or two after. Which is practically the same as the first thing I said, so I guess my wager is on a mid december announcement.

I could definitely see X-Wing Wave 4 and 5 ships, along with the shuttle showing up in Wave 3.

TIE Defenders please!

But I would be happy for pretty much anything, hopefully it will be in a few weeks we will get some info on wave 3.

I kind of think we won't see the Lancer or the Tartan Patrol cruiser since we have the raider, but who knows they may wish to add them later if they need more small ships for the Imperials.

My guess would be

F/O Star Destroyer for the Imps

The winged Mon Cal "Liberty" for the Rebs

Probably E-wing/Defender/..maybe K-wing/Punisher fighter pack

The two small ships I have no idea, they have a few options.

I don't think we're going to see large ships again so soon. Considering both factions only have 1 medium sized ship at this point, I think you are more likely to see a medium and a small for each faction. We MIGHT see another fighters pack with the E-wing/Defender/etc. or they might push that off again. Another round of large ships when we still only have 1 medium per side just doesn't make sense, IMHO.

I would agree. Would Interdictor be large or Med?

I think it unlikely EP7 ships appear in Wave 3. I think it more likely Wave 3 will have another squadron pack for Rebels and Imperials, the Gozanti aka Imperial Assault Carrier (small based), Interdictor (the gravity well projector ship; medium) and an Rebel small (freighter?) and medium based (Pelta aka Rebel Command Ship).

However, if WAVE 3 is EP7 Ships then FFG will have release a squadron pack, large base ship, medium based ship and one or two small base ships to provide some balance parity with what has already been released

Releasing too much at once is hard on FLGS who are already carrying inventory of previously released Waves. But as a fan, I would have not problem with more stuff being released; I would just have to figure out a way to budget for it!

I agree as well, but would be interesting is FFG releasing an expansion card pack, offering more versions of ships that are similar. The Tector Class Star Destroyer, for instance, is very much like an Imperial Class Star Destroyer, but modified for ship-to-ship combat.

At 600 meters it would be right at the threshold between small and medium.

Glad = 500m

MC30 = 580m

AFM2 = 700m

One would hope about the time it hits the ships and starts heading towards the store. Any sooner and there is a risk of delay that seems to cause more ill than good.

I'm guessing a fighter pack and then a couple of capital ships for each faction. A tie-in with TFA would make sense, for marketing reasons if nothing else.

Fighters

Imp- Defender, Phantom, Punisher, Advanced v1 or TIE f/o

Reb- E-wing, z-95 Headhunter, K-wing, T-70 X-wing

Ships

Imp- First Order SD (large) or Interdictor cruiser (medium), Gonzati transport

Reb- new unrevealed Resistance large/medium ship, MC 40a light cruiser

Any thoughts on Transports and adding additional objective cards with those? Such as a delivery objective or something?

Yeah, I suspect that the Interdictor will in fact be a medium based ship. An argument could be made for a small base, especially when you see the MC30 being so close in size (length-wise, not bulk-wise), but I really think Medium would be more appropriate.

I think it's a bit early for new objectives. You would have to create at least 3 new objectives to keep parity among the three types. Wave 2 only finally got us at least 1 ship per faction per size class. I'm not sure the game is ready for, nor needs, new objectives just yet.

I would rather just play with wave 2 for awhile and they can announce wave 3 March or April of next year! Don't need more ships right away just enjoy the ones we have

Oooh, another wishlist thead? Lemmie guess:

Nebulon-B2, Arquitens-class cruiser, MC40a, Pelta-class Frigate.

Fighter pack will be heavy fighters: TIE Defender, TIE Phantom, K-Wing, E-Wing.

I know everyone's still up and about the Interdictor, but I still don't know how it would fit in Armada as a purely strategic weapon. If they could find a way (probably getting more out of their tractor beams), replace the B2 and 40a with the Interdictor and CC-7700 respectively. The B2 and MC40a give both factions ships that the other is currently using but with a little variety I would imagine.

I think we won't expect news on wave 3... until FFG has the production run well underway and they can afford to start making news releases. It depends on when their stuff is approved by LFL and when testing is completed. If I had to pitch money at a guess, I'd say a month or two after Wave 2's street date.

Vindicators would be nice to have.

Hooray, more wish listing!

Rebel

MC40

'Liberty' MC80

Imperial

Escort carrier

'Finalizer' ISD

Both

Heavy fighters pack

Dreadnaught (medium). Rebel on one side of the card, imperial on the other.

This should balance out medium ships, providing 2 for each side and 1 large for each side.

I hope that the Gozanti isn't made a small base ship. The CR90 is pushing it, but the Gozanti would really break the scale. It's got a 12-man crew, it should not be pushing out 1/3 of the dice of a VSD.

Making the Gozanti part of a 'light ships' release later whereby smaller vessels are put on squadron stands like the R+V release would be much better.

Where did the MC30C's length come from? It seems very large given that frigate class hulls in Star Wars are usually 200 to 400 meter long hulls, and the RPG has it at a sil 6 size while 600 meter long vessels are sil 7. In fact the only source for the 580 meter length I can find is an estimation on Wookieepedia. But there are two big problems with that estimate. One we aren't even sure the ship in question actually is an MC30C because it is only seen in a cutscene from a game that came out almost a decade before Empire at War came out, and more then a decade before Forces of Corruption. Two it is basically a guess by comparing the length of two ships seen in the scene without considering the possibility of one ship being closer or furthur away from the viewpoint.

Maybe we will get some news about wave 3 around christmas.

OT: My wishlist for upcoming waves:

Rebels:

- MC80 Liberty class star cruiser (large)

- Assault Frigate Mk I (medium)

Empire:

- Interdictor Immobilizer 418 (medium)
