Need Scummy advice to use against Imperial Killjoys

By Hantheman, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So me and some of my friends have recently started playing this game (we bought out stuff from people who no longer had time to play), and we're currently quite new to the game.

My full squadron list is in my signature and my friends play the following:

1) Large Imerial fleet - tons of TIEs, no large ships, no bombers or punishers

2) Large Imerial fleet, small Rebel fleet (nothing beyond wave 3)

3) Small Imperial fleet, Small Rebel fleet

We're new and only play casually with what we have but we'll probably begin to use proxy upgrades soon.

So far I've been playing a mix of rebel and scum but I'd like to just stick to scum. What are good scum counter against TIE swarms and Imperial Aces as these are the most likely lists I'm gonna be fighting.

Surrender and live to fight another day.

but seriously, IG-B and Scum Fett are a pretty swanky combo. or if he's a swarmin IG-A and 2 TLTL y's (though you'll need to purchase but one K-wing.)

have yet to meet an imperial that could give Xizor a good fight ^_^

Scum is still a bit fresh off the boat and are in need of some tougher options (scum b-wing essentially coming in wave 8), but for now there are some reliable ships in

Character Starvipers (both Guri and Xizor are surprisingly durable, just don't put PTL on them)

Y-wing Thugs, either TLT or ICT w/BTL-a4 (don't put BTL-a4 on TLT, it's counterproductive)

Palob/Mux (worst ships in the game being flown by the best pilot abilities in the game)

and, IG-88s which are the most meta of the lot

both the unpronouncable fighter and the YV-666 are worth looking into as well, just don't try to make a fat **** out of the YV-666 because the IG is strictly superior in that regard (far more maneuverable and defensively reliable)

the YV-666 is more like scum's super-shuttle, better at slaying enemy aces with builds such as Slaver (gunner, bossk) or Latz (weapons engineer, K4) shining through

nah, punishers would be unkillable then

it'd be more

true that...

On topic, Palob and torkil are also good counters to High PS Aces, Torkil more than Palob (on those token stackers at least) Nothing Shuts down a Whisper like shooting at PS0.

so maybe slap them with a moldy crow and Blaster along with Rec Spec.

The YV-666 is already on my to buy list (As well as Mist Hunter and Punishing One). The big 5 bounty hunter ships are why I started anyway. Might pick up more IG-2000s (1 at least seeing how successful that build is for scum competitively).

So ships I want to look at for now are:

YV-666

More Y-wings

More HWK-290s

1 IG-2000

(K-wing should I play competitively)

What about the named Y-wings? Say Drea with ICT w/BTL-a4 or Kavil with TLT?

1 Hwk should be fine unless you're feeling masochistic.

Drea wuth R4-B11 might be pretty disgusting and by might i mean is.

not a fan of the named Ys (imo too expensive and too fragile)

Thug life for life

R4 TLTs deal with aces very decently; less well with Soontir but very well v Vader and Whisper who do not bring sustained defensive tech such as thrusters

the super-shuttle (Slaver w/gunner + bossk, Lattz w/k4 & weapons) are also good for punching through high agility aces

Xizor can fight them on even ground @ ps 9 (V.I, virago, fire control system, thrusters)

HWKs are narsty pilots, but the ship itself is so bleh that I also wouldn't bother with more than one. Actually had rather funny success with Palob and some Zs against tie mini-swarms. This was before TLTs, and blaster palob against naked tie fighters (dat ability) leads to a lot of popping imperials

are you saying Drea with R4-B11 doesnt get your jimmies rustled? GRANTED you could end up with 4 stress (possibly 6 with BTLA) but its a y wing, and you can use Drea's ability to Rerroll no dice and acquire TL on different target.

R4-B11 is just accelerating the inevitable green dice failure, so eh. Plus, she's very expensive at 22 imo

I fear Kavil more, but even then he's an immobile Y-wing with no extra defenses

I'd sooner place my ace-killing faith in the YV-666 or generic TLT thugs

ooh i played against a Bossk Build that ruined my Double Phantom List....

Bossk K4 Outlaw tech and Marksmanship... All he needed was one hit to go through (happened twice) to strip shields from my poor ol phantoms.

fielded with 2 TLT thugs with unhinged... i'd start with that list.

I tend to build my lists around either Xizor or Kath, as they're my two stand out pilots.

I also tend to stick feedback array on a lot of cheap ships, as they make ace killing very easy. So...

Xizor, 2 feedback pirates & a slaver with outlaw tech, tactician and feedback

Or

Kath with ptl & k4 security droid plus 4 feedback pirates.

Both put the fear of Hutt into aces, and both have a fighting chance against tie swarms. That Kath list is one of my favourites.

I'm gonna try:

Latts Razzt w/ Tactician, K4 & Glitterstim

Torkhil Mux w/ TLT

Prince Xizor w/ VI, FCS, Virago

Maybe I'll look into Kath & pirates.

Not a bad list at all. However, you are missing the all-essential Autothrusters on Xizor. Don't leave the hangar without em!

I'd suggest dropping Glitter from Latz to get em, because while Glitter is nice, its not nearly as essential...
