IG-88 Squad

By Epixca, in X-Wing

So many people reading, but no comments? Can someone tell me if my build is good or not?

It's pretty good. You can't deny how powerful it is to get 3 actions (focus, boost to arc-dodge, and get a free evade from C). It's a lot of fun and can do quite well. My standard load-out is

-IG-2000 (0)

-Push the Limit (3)

-Advanced Sensors (3)

-"Mangler" Cannon (4)

-Inertial Dampeners (1)

-Autothrusters (2)

-Seismic Charges (2) [only fits on one IG-88]

Yours has better damage output with the Heavy Laser Cannon, but isn't as good defensively because of the lack of Autothrusters. But I think with what you have (or will have with a shuttle or 2nd E-wing), it's a pretty strong list. The thing is that Autothrusters is so perfect because then you can try to stay at range 3 with your cannon and get an extra defense die when your opponent attacks while your opponent doesn't get the extra defense die since you're using a secondary weapon anyway. Then you add the effect of turning a blank to an evade with your Autothrusters. It makes the Aggressor a great sniping vehicle.

[What follows is more about where to go in the future.]

Basically, once you add Autothrusters, you'll have to sacrifice something from your list. I've always dropped the cannon down to "Mangler," but I always feel like I'm struggling to push damage through, so maybe I should switch to Heavy Laser Cannon. The thing is, Autothrusters do so much for IG-88 that once you have those, you'll always want to make room for them. If you drop the one Seismic Charge from my build and take out Inertial Dampeners, you've freed up 2 points on each Aggressor. That's still not enough to upgrade "Mangler" Cannon to Heavy Laser Cannon. You can use Fire Control System instead of Advanced Sensors. Now you can fit the HLC. The problem is that you won't use Push the Limit as much because you can't clear the stress in the same turn, but with all the green on the Aggressor dial, it's still not a bad upgrade.

Thanks for the tip. I am thinking about buying one off of Ebay. Kinda pricey. But you gotta do whatcha gotta do. :/

It costs 6.95. Would you say that is worth it?

It is kinda pricey. How much is shipping? For an extra $3, you can get a whole new E-wing for $10 (not including shipping). Maybe it is better to go for the card you need when you consider shipping.

I keep forgetting that the E-wing doesn't come with Fire Control System. I keep thinking you have one FCS and one Advanced Sensors. Considering you don't, it might be worth it to just get Advanced Sensors off ebay. You already have one E-wing and don't seem to interested in the other cards it comes with. Since shipping for the card is probably about $1 but about $5 for the ship, it probably is better at this point to just buy the card? The other thing to think about is getting an Imperial Shuttle. It also comes with Advanced Sensors. Granted, it costs $30 instead of $6.95. However, it can really do some great things for your Imperial fleet. I guess it depends on what you think you'll be flying most. If you're primarily running Scum (and especially dual Aggressors) you probably just want to pay for the card. But if you'll be switching among all your factions, the Shuttle will be a great addition for your Imperial squad and give you that Advanced Sensors card you need for your Aggressors.

It just depends on what you'll fly and how tight money is.

I have a lot of success with IG 88 B&D, same set up on both ships.

Wired ( for D's pilot ability )

Heavy Laser cannon

Auto-thrusters

IG2000 title

Fire control system

Inertial dampeners

4 attack at all ranges also autothrusters for defence and wired gives me focus after S or K turns, target lock plus IGB shared pilot ability is just nasty.

Yeah. I love playing Imperials too. My dad plays Rebels a lot. He likes the good ol' fashioned Corran + Dash. So, I am getting him some Rebels for Christmas. I might consider getting the Lambda, but I am also getting a Decimator, so is it worth it? I see myself in the future using these builds.

Brobots (B and C.)

Soontir + Decimator.

3 Interceptors.

Prince Xizor + Guri + Other Scum Ships.

Phantom + Decimator.

Phantom + Interceptors.

Firespray + Interceptors.

Leebo + Chewbacca.

E-Wing + X-Wing + B-Wing.

Punishing One + Other Scum Ships.

Super-dash is the worst nightmare for IGs

Only if you are PS6.

If you are PS8 and know how to fly the IGs well, then its as close to an auto-win as they come.

I have a question. I have this squad;

-IG-88B (36)

HLC (7)

PTL (3)

?

Dampeners (1)

IG-2000 (0)

-IG88C (36)

HLC (7)

PTL (3)

Advanced Sensors (3)

Dampeners (1)

IG-2000 (0)

In the question mark spot, I have room for 3 points, here are my options.

Charges

Proximity Mines

Stealth Device

Hull Upgrade

Ion Cannon

Which one should I do?

Drop dampeners.

Take x2 autothrusters

or maybe x2 flechett cannons. Bad thing autoblasters cost a SHITTON points

Did you not just read what I said? I said I have those cards!!!! NOT AUTOTHRUSTERS!!!! XD So many people say I have them, do you see, that I don't have Starvipers?

I have a question. I have this squad;

I'd go with Hull Upgrade.

I'd also almost be tempted to drop PTL from the IG without Advanced Sensors and put Hull Upgrade on both.

Beat my dad with this squad!

Anybody want to add anything?

Stealth Device would aid better to the defence of the IG's, and bombs are good but not always able to hit the mark. It's good to have a balanced attack and defence. But do get some other scum ships if possible, there are scum only upgrades that are awesome to work with.

Now that I have Autothruters, would anyone like to throw some B C builds? Remember, I only have 1 VI and only one Advanced Sensors.

Anyone?

you may want to try the squadbuilding forum

My advice to you however - would be, don't worry about what the internet thinks yet. build on your own - and play it - play it more than once. When you find something doesn't work well, swap it for something else.

I can hand ten people the same list - and likely every one will have a different way to put that list on the table, and get very different results - both from intitial position, to the list they face, to dice, and targeting choices and asteroid placement.
