Targeting Astromech

By Plebian, in X-Wing

Speculation:

After you perform a green maneuver, take a free target lock action.

1pt.

I think this could be the fix X and E generics are looking for, and distinguishes them further from FCS Bs.

Named pilots usually want one of the cool droids, and both the 1 pt droids r2 and r5 are better for Ys than X or E.

Got my fingers crossed.

Would love to run 4 Blue Novice with this and integrated.

Maybe 2. Maybe straight maneuvers instead of green.

Distinguishes them further from FCS B's? This would just make them similar, giving them freebie Target Locks every round.

I think that mech would make torpedo boat greys pretty sexy, and/or popularize actually using the ordinance slot on astromech fighters.

Double post whomp whomp

Before they were worse than Bs. No they are just as good but have a different mechanism to get free TL.

I would really hope it is 1 point, to allow for 4xT70.

1 point k4 = opps! FFG broke the game

We have to reason to suspect anything less than 2 if the trigger is green maneuvers

In that case, forget bout 4 novices and invest in crackshot reds, instead

Knowing that the K4 Security Droid crew do exactly that and cost 3 pts, I doubt an astromech version would be 1 pts.

Crew is significantly stronger than astromech though, so it's not inconceivable for a similar effect to not cost the same due to the limited selection of ships who can take it.

Based on what is visible:

After you have executed a green maneuver, you may acquire a target lock.

Keeping your action free.

Price estimation: 3 points, because that is big.

Couple that with a PtL ace and an EU and you've got one mean X-Wing on your tail.

True, that's why I would not be surprised if it was 2 pts, if for no other reason than to prevent 4 T-70 with Targetting Astromech and Integrated Astromech.

It's irrelevant

An ability as power as k4 would be severely undercosted at 1

2 is already pushing it, but is at least possible

They have never and have expressed resistance to printing the same abilities on multiple cards. I believe it will be similar, but I think the fact that K4 exists is all but confirmation that it will be green maneuver=target lock

It's entirely relevant... The slot being used not only limit what ships can use it but also what the opportunity cost of any certain upgrade is. Imagine extra munitions as a modification rather than torpedo slot. Suddenly it is significantly more accessible and therefore more powerful, so it might need a cost bump.

1 point is probably to cheap for the mech being discussed but 3 points is almost assuredly too much.

So the Kihraxz just came out, is "balanced", and mimics the T-65 X-Wing in performance and function. If this is correct, then any 'fix' to the T-65 should only bring it up to the Kihraxz's level.

Not really

It depends on which t70 you're using it on, and how much you get out of innate boost

For jousting value, I have no idea

The t65 is a completely different beast due to integrated, and the fact that the special k has no innate buffs like that but instead has a different dial and is cheaper

The special k is what the xwing SHOULD have been during wave 0, only with an IMO superior dial. The newly buffed Xwing is going to be completely different, less maneuverable but more reliably durable

Regardless of the price, I expect this droid to help Blue Ace action economy. As of now, I use him with R2-D6/Lone Wolf or Predator and love it, but a free target lock followed by the hard boost would be nice too, and cheaper. I tried with R7-T1, but the line of sight and range restriction paired with Blue Ace being PS5 makes it underwhelming.

I imagine that whatever it'll cost, it will somehow be more useful for the T-65 and T-70. T-65 has 4 pts to work with if you want to swarm with, and we don't want the T-70 to always overshadow the T-65. So the Targetting Astromech's points will probably be better spent on the T-65.

Not necessarily

Red vet with crackshot + targeting is shaping up to be a scary force
