400pts Imperial Fleet.

My approach to list creation for gaming is to apply a KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) philosophy, mainly due to how prone I am at forgetting upgrades and the like during a game.

As 400pts is the new hotness here is a list that I have ran, so far so good.

Victory Star Destroyer Class II 85pts

Admiral Motti 24pts

Victory Star Destroyer Class II 85pts

Gladiator Star Destroyer Class II 62pts

Gladiator Star Destroyer Class II 62pts

10 TIE Fighter 80pts

Total 398pts.

I haven't decided on what Missions are best suited for this list.

Nothing too flash, can deal with most Fighter swarms, due to the number of TIE Fighters, and the anti Fighter capabilities of the Gladiator. The 4 ships have enough command to ensure that all TIE Fighters can be issued Squadron orders.

Meanwhile the 2 Victory Star Destroyers move in for the kill.

I tend to keep the fleet in a tight formation, my experience has that Rebel fleets can out move and are better at harassing tactics. To this the best counter is to have overlapping fire arcs and layers of Fighter screens to help protect against Bombers.

The one thing I might do is drop some TIE Fighters and give both the Gladiators Expanded Launch Bays, as I do miss the sheer brutal fire-power they offer.

Any thoughts?

The pain this list will come up to is the vaunted Ackbar Frigate Gunline... Assuming that Ackbar+Gunnery Teams has a positive Interaction for the Rebels ( something I'm not going further into here) , you're looking at an obscene amount of Red Dice that can be split between multiple targets for your fast moving gladiators... While the Victory Star Destroyers can be ignored until the Gladiators are Gone.

Personally, I'd mix things up a bit... Get some Bombers in there, and fling them in front of the Rebel movement line so they can do some preemptive damage.

In oversight, I feel its a very strong Wave 1 list, but is missing a lot of what Wave 2 could offer, both for and against.

Glad it is seen as a strong Wave 1 list. I do intend to mix things up when Wave 2 becomes available in my area, Tempted to drop the TIE Fighters and get some Raiders in to act as both anti-squadron, and hunt down any damaged ships that try to avoid the fleet.

I have used this fleet twice now and both times it has won with very little loss sustained. The more I play it, the more I am sure that keeping a tight fleet is the best way to combat the speed and manoeuvrability of the Rebel fleet.
