Pirate Queen Spotted

By ken2, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

As of 11/18/15, Mask of the Pirate Queen is still listed as shipping and not yet in stock at the FFG store.

But.

At CoolStuffInc.com and Amazon it is listed as in stock. I hope correct listings and it will appear soon at other sellers. I have been wanting to explore Ord Mantell since Han spoke of a bounty hunter face off there in ESB. I coughed up extra to Amazon to get my copy before Thanksgiving.

Stores will be receiving them this week. This always happens before FFG updates their upcoming page to In Stores.

Then maybe Keeping the Peace in the next week or two, and maybe after Mask hits the shelves they'll reveal the next Edge book.

I should have it tomorrow... crossing fingers.

I just received a shipping notification myself.

I ordered it from Coolstuff yesterday but opted for the slow shipping. I dont see any reason to pay for faster delivery when I'll be in Peru for another week (and overnight to Cusco is crazy expensive).

A little green Yoda, am I. I opted for fast shipping before going to regular family Thanksgiving next week. I would do the same if as you, if not just going the next state over, but to Peru. Still if do not mind spoilers, since people are getting it soon, it will be talked about here at the site. Maybe help kill the time to you get yours. it will.

Product page is updated to show it as in stores.

Availability article is up. If anybody has it, I'm curious to know what the new stuff, if any, is (i.e. the Cybernetics from BtR, mass combat in OaA, and so on).

I'm hoping for some new ships and vehicles but I always hope for that when new books come out.

I just got my shipping confirmation from MiniatireMarket, so it looks like they have them, too.

Yay!!!

Exciting! I have not pre-ordered but am always on the lookout for more content. Let me know if the book also includes new weapons, vehicles, races, etc.

I have it in my hands right now. :D

First impressions after literally just flipping through:

Lots of NPC stat blocks. Awesome artwork, as always. A good amount of ship stat blocks. (Though at first glance, it's unclear if they're specific ships or a type we already have stats for, or if they're brand new classes altogether.) A couple cool maps (including a ship floor plan).

I didn't notice any new rule mechanics really, though there is a sidebar that lays out how to interpret slicing dice results in great detail.

Anything specific people want to know?

Probably ships, and if you do spot anything new, please and thank you.

This, most definitely this.

Okay, since ships seem to always be a popular request when new books out, here's what this contains. I'll let someone else decide if it's new or not because I'll admit I haven't kept up with all the ships available across all lines.

Cutlass-9 Patrol Fighter

Keldabe Class Cruiser

Interceptor IV-Class Frigate

Starviper M-2 Fighter

Consular Light Cruiser

Marauder Class Corvette

Every ship listed appears to be pictured, some individually and some as part of "fleet" type artwork.

Cutlass-9, Interceptor IV, Starviper M2, and maybe the Consular (depending).

Couple of questions: do they have price/rarity listings, and, for the Consular, does it have any weapons at all?

Cheers as the Presence of the Cutlass-9 means there is now only one fighter of my top 5 favorite Star Wars fighter models not in the FFG system.

Yes, they have price and rarity listed, although for the Marauder it says "Not available for sale" since it's a named customized ship I assume.

Yes, the Consular has a bunch of weapons. Two forward facing twin heavy ion cannons, two port twin light turbolasers, two starboard twin light turbolasers, and a heavy tractor beam.

Bantha poodoo. I was hoping it was the unarmed civilian transport variant, but it's just the same one we have from the Age of Rebellion core.

Now my last question: how pirate-y is the book? Like, eye patches and peg legs comin' out of our ears, or what?

I didn't notice any eyepatches and peg legs in the artwork, but there's a few swords. The Pirate Queen herself has several pieces of art, and she looks rather pirate-y. The adventure definitely takes you to some shady places, and the part of the reason there's a wide variety of ships is due to the whole pirate aspect. Not sure how else to answer that question until I read the whole thing.

Any new alien species/beasts?

It is Kind of interesting that they included the Interceptor-IV Frigate and not the Interceptor Frigate. Maybe they are saving the Interceptor for a Black Sun book?

Oooooo. Slicing results suggestions! This just moved up my priority list slightly.

I flipped through it briefly at my LGS today. With 2 books out the previous 2 weeks and Armada Wave 2 next week, I had to push this down the list.

It's times like this I wished I lived in the US. Our LGS's have no sign of any of this stuff, and even Book Depository only has Chronicles of the Gatekeeper (which despite shipping 9 working days ago and in theory arriving within 5-8 working days, still hasn't arrived).

So I'll be lucky to see the other two books (let alone Armada wave 2) this side of Christmas...
