The simplest question you'll answer all day. (about blocking)

By Eyegor, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I understand how important blocking can be to deny your opponent movement, actions, etc. After playing a few basic games a question has arisen and I want to make sure we're doing it right.

When using a maneuver template to "fly through" an opponent or obstacle as long as the final position of the base is not overlapping or touching the base of another ship then you are fine. The only time you "bump" is if the final position of the completed maneuver would have the bases overlapping. Is this the correct? I thought I had this figured out but couldn't find it explicitly stated in the Rules or FAQ. Likely, I missed it. Thanks.

That is correct in terms of flying 'through' a ship - the conceit is that you are operating in 3 dimensional space and would fly over or below the ship as you traverse the same space.

This is distinct from passing through an obstacle where you have to roll for damage

Thanks for the reference. I read through that at home and again at work this morning before posting but still wasn't sure if we were doing it correctly.

And "Overlapping" on Page 15 of the RRG too.

Yeah, it's a slightly different concept from other games - you don't move *along* your template here.

Good luck!

I think this point is worth stressing.
