New Armada Vassal Module version 2.1.0

By ransburger, in Star Wars: Armada

I am not an experienced user. How to I actually add DA's stuff to the existing Armada Module?

1. Download the module

2. Start Vassal

3. Right-click the Armada module

4. Select Add extension (the extension is now linked to the module)

5. Start Armada module normally (the extension will load)

6. All DA's Shipyard content is now available in a separate tab under Pieces, right next to Objectives

(note that this doesn't affect the main module at all)

7. To play vs. someone using the custom content requires both players to have the extension attached

8. If you try to join a game without the required extension you'll be prompted to add it

9. Have fun!

@GK, how do you get the ship cards to click in on the ship command templates? Everytime I try to put them on top they go straight to the back.

You've an older version I think?

The current version is 2.1.3

(the problem was corrected in 2.1.1 hotfix and later versions)

If anyone needs help: I'm currently online (here and on Vassal)

Lol NM I see he sent you the updates already.

Thank you Green Knight, I knew it had to be easy... I think DA may still have some changes to make to the E-wing and Corran before final. The cards on the web page are out of date with the playtest rework.

I got a dl link with the first "wave" of cards and ships... if needed I can always update. Preferably before the "final" wave 1 edition is published.

Looks like he gave yo what you needed now that I have loaded the vassal. Your good to go sir.

The website is hopelessly outdated as I've focused my efforts on getting the cards ready for printing and then ready for Vassal. Next is ready for Warlords, then I fix the website, then I make new Clone Wars stuff, then there's the Ton Falk, then I can look at the Avenger & Defender, then the Pirates & Smugglers lot, then... SSD? (...right...) :P

I can add a few more to that list....

Please don't

No, I'm actually on latest.. Unless there's some secret in having these ship cards "click" onto the template, I'm not seeing it. It will always move to the left/right, or not click on it, and always in the back. I'm on right now if you want to explain more.

You just missed me. Went out for a walk with the dogs.

OK. Can you describe the process then? How do you "click" the ship cards onto the command template?

RE: the command stack 1. I updated the hotkey to look at the top dial. I am not planning to add a "cycle" command as it seems superfluous. On the larger command stacks "cycle" will shift the middle command to the top, the bottom to the middle, and then set the bottom to an empty command. With the command stack 1 setting it to an empty command seemed like an unnecessary extra step. I'll ruminate on it and consider it for the next major update though.

Alright, but changing the "look at" hotkey from ctrl+z to ctrl+q like the other stacks would be nice. That way looking at the top command has the same hotkey across the board.

Played a full 400 pt game tonight...found a couple of bugs. Will compile a list tomorrow.

I'm trying to install vassal armada but am completely out of my depth. Is there a guide on how to do it?

Very easy.

Played a full 400 pt game tonight...found a couple of bugs. Will compile a list tomorrow.

1. The LoS dots (side) of the MC80 are in the wrong spot (too far aft).

2. Sometimes the maneuver tool is at a weird angle from the ship base (only when placed, not when slotted)

3. Revealing the command of a small command 1 ship does nothing.

3: I've identified the problem: In Command Stack 1, Trigger Action Reveal Command is set to CTRL+Z, but should be CTRL+Q

1. The side LoS dots of the MC80 should be right next to the stat (dice/shield) block, i.e. aligned with the shield dials.

2. I've identified the problem: Place left root --> Define Marker --> Can rotate = Only 16 facings. Set to 64 = problem solved

- Place right root is correct, as are both left/right notch

- On small ships it's the place right root that's the problem

(probably some copy-paste error)

The new command stacks are much more tamper-proof, but they are a bit harder to use.

Enhancement idea: Masking a stack should automatically reveal all commands, and vice versa, rather than having to flip them over, one by one and back again.

New version available: v2.1.3 hotfix

Fixes:
- command stack 1 bug
- maneuver tool bug
Does not address the MC80 LoS dot error; you'll have to compensate manually for the time being.

Official release:

v2.1.4

From now on ransburger will ensure a more controlled release schedule - the 2.1.0 was a bit rushed due to popular demand, so contained more bugs than usual.

Best way is to ask someone to teach you. Or read the manual.

Basically:

1. Log on

2. Create a new room

3. Start a new game

4. Have another player join

5. Set up and play, just like tabletop Armada

Edit: I'm always happy to teach if I'm online.
