Star Wars Battlefront

By heychadwick, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Tried it, and can't believe how bad it is.

Give me BF 2, Quakeworld, Unreal instagib, etc. any day of the week but this - this is a bad shooter with horrible glitches and design decisions (the spawnpoints on Jakku made me laugh so hard) - oh but it does have gorgeous graphics.

Did they patch in the past few days? I just killed 3 a-wings in the same match. My lasers actually hit them.

I can't believe the updates they have made to this game. First and foremost the battle of Jack Who is great, really really great. I just don't know who Jack is and why theirs a battle about him.

The updates though, esp the HOTH Walker Assault Updates suck rotten eggs. Last phase Imp players get no fighters at all. TIE Interceptors are in the map in between the first and seconded wave. Rebs get A-Wings and Speeders last wave.

Why the heck was everyone saying that the IMPS were overpowered even in beta? I was killing the **** things with standard blaster rifles in beta. Hell I just killed one with a Scout pitol. They way people are or were acting about how over powered IMPs were during assault youd think this was happening to them.

Boom head shot

I'm getting better at the game. I'm usually even now with my k/d, even ahead half the time. I have been playing Supremacy and having fun with it. I did it for a challenge and did well. It just took a while to figure it out. Same with Walker Assault.

I did get the DL-44 unlocked and man, is it broken. I've been beat by it many times, but now that I have it....I kill people easy. Let me finish my pistol head kills mission before they nerf it.

I don't think I've seen the Imperials win a Walker Assault match in three days.

Which is sad, because I know they actually increased the health of the Endor walker.

It's heartening to know that they are working on it.

Ah well, now i've my scout armour with me buying a new PC next week I suspect Space engineers will take over my time again.

(and i'll build another 7/8 pointless dropship variants).

I don't think I've seen the Imperials win a Walker Assault match in three days.

I did win at least one yesterday. Had the Rebels completely locked up on Hoth. That Rebel stronghold had no hope of escape.

I preferred the difficulty of Walker Assault in Beta. This weekend I saw the Rebels blow up a Walker on Hoth on the very first bombing run. That was just insane. The Imperials are supposed to have the advantage in a scenario like that - it SHOULD be very hard for the rebels to win. Just my opinion.

Yeah, walker assault is kinda silly at the moment. I remember when i first killed a walker with a tow cable at the last second on sullust. Felt. So. Good.

The thing about the Dl-44 is it's not broken in the fact that it has the same kill time as all the pistols. It's jsut more forgiving at close range with it's 2hk.

But seriously, I get killed more often by DH-17s and SE-C14s then the DL-44.

Me too, but to be honest I hate close range. Unless I am sneaking behind someone with the EE-3 of course. EE-3 is perhaps the best all rounder, with T-21 B being close second. My opinion anyway, but then it depends on play styles.

Current 2 star card hands:

Sniper rifle, Explosive shot (need to switch for something else) Jetpack

Sniper Rifle, Explosive shot(need to switch) Ion torp.

Given the 3 game modes i play the most are easily Supremacy, Walker Assault and Turning point (with the 4th being fighter squadron) that anti-vehicle oomph and jetpack are invaluable, depending on role/side. The pulse rifle is surprisingly good at taking down a TIE or A-wing with a good shot too, does about a third of their health bar fully charged. Ion torp probably won't hit, but it'll make them think about getting too close, and maybe will force them to do a poorly timed evade. If nothing else, they quickly take down ATSTS and statics.

The Sniper rifle though, given I prefer long range harrying to up close.. I love to get behind enemy lines and target top players to slow the side down, then duck quickly into cover/relocate.

Generally In Sullust and Tatooine, I prefer the T-21B, Hoth I switch depending. Endor, Jakku and the small deathmatch maps. EE-3, though admittedly I can see the use of the pistols here.

I did the same thing, blew it up the moment it went vulnerable.

Rebels do have advantage in a lot of game modes currently.

You know what though? Fine with it. Just remove K/D and win rate stats as unimportant, have assymetric teams, make the TIE as shite as you like and make it thematic. I'd be cool with that.

Removing K/D in general would be a good thing, since it doesn't mean anything with so many bs ways to die or kill. Objectives are so much more important. The TF2 (and I am sure lots of other games) way is a lot less toxic where you have detailed stats for yourself, but the scoreboard only shows accumulated score.

This isn't like DOTA, where K/D/A actually can be game deciding, the enemy gains nothing immediate by killing you.

What does explosive shot actually DO? Is this supposed to be higher damage against people or something? Never seemed to make any difference when I used it.

And my favorite weapon so far is the rebels' starting rifle. Ends up getting me the most kills and seems the most well rounded. I think I have bad aim so maybe that's why.

Explosive adds some splash and deals more damage, since the last patch it deals less. I find it less useful, suspecting upgrading focus fire or possibly Ion shot is the way to go.

It also adds more heat.

I routinely used to use explosive with the T-21B because holy hell the damage.

It does not add enough splash to even pretend to be useful.

The A280C and E-11 (the starter rifles) are fantastic allrounders, and totally viable. I just find the EE-3 has superior DPS in all ranges (burst mode CAN hurt it though).

I've been playing more Supremacy, but still most of the time I play the death match. What is that....Flash?

I find I usually go in for the close fighting. Even in Supremacy, someone has to capture objectives. I've been using the base weapons mostly as I find they do best for that. Well...best all around.

I do like the T-21B, but often find myself needing something closer.

What trait do people use? I have been using Bodyguard, but I think I should go with Scout....especially if I'm trying to capture stuff.

I LOVE SCOUT!!!!!

Wouldn't use it for capping though, as as soon as you are capping they know you are there. Kinda against the point.

For me, Scout is "IMMA FLANK YOU".

I'm not the assault guy. I'm a sniper/flanker.

I don't fight honourably (on the ground), if I am shooting you in the front I am doing something wrong.

I can see Bodyguard, survivalist and bounty hunter as really good. Sharpshooter though... I don't headshot enough to make it useful. Full charged bodyshot.

Funny I've been playing this game since launch and I JUST found out two huge things. (that I should have known all along).

1- You can swap your objectives for 500 credits! I had three really hard ones at launch, like kill 10 AT-ATs with a Snowspeeder or something crazy like that.... but once you get objectives that you can actually work on, it's a nice XP boost and I JUST figured that out this past weekend! I LOVE getting three that I can work on in the same game, like get 10 kills with a TIE Fighter, kill 50 vehicles, and get 25 kills... then play fighter squadron and complete all three in a few games.

2- You can SWAP between 3rd person and 1st person!!!!!! I just figured this out last night! I usually play in 3rd person but sometimes it stinks when you throw a grenade but it hits the wall in front of you, or you have the perfect sneaky shot but the bullets hit the wall.... if you hold DOWN on the D-Pad (Xbox One) it swaps you into 1st person and vice versa. MIND BLOWN!

Yep to both. Also in AI battles up and right (possibly left) on the Dpad order the AIs around.

On ps4 named heroes are fixed to 3rd person and 'fighter squadron' is serioulsy hard in 1st person as you have little situational awareness. I think they could have got around that by making the 'radar' much better in first person, perhaps like the old 'elite' system so it showed relative height of contacts as well as direction by putting the 'dot' on a line that went up or down?

Anyway as it is you've got to be a purist or someone who values immersion over being able to play to fly a tie 1st person! (i still do as im a masochist and sometimes need my 'tie simulator' fix)

But you're right being able to change your challenges was ace, my first lot were really hard like yours with things like 'destroy 25 aircraft with blasters' or something just as silly

Im finding the imps are at a disadvantage in fighter squadron.

For a start the rebel missile seems better but most importantly the rebels 'shield' ability makes all the difference, if you start taking fire you can flip it and pull a corkscrew or dive to the ground and pick up a repair... i've also survived missile hits im sure by being shielded.

In contrast the 'boost' the imperials get isnt much cop.

I've found being on full speed makes it night on impossible to dogfight anyway and tend to fly at half or three quarter speed for either faction so i can stay on someone tail *and* have a fair bit of firepower.

Double xp this weekend. Hoping to hit 40. Would rock to hit 50. At 37 I think.

Caution: Language and Crude humor.

Rebel missile seems to do more damage, but Imperial missile negates shield (deactivates it). The tactic is for Imperials to make the rebel pop shield AFTER doing their spin (yeah, they pretty much never have to) then missile. Hilariously, if an A-wing has gotten the refresh power up, it can keep shields on indefinitely, and just barrel roll away from missiles.

When playing as the Rebel A, all you have to remember is "dodge the missile, THEN use shields".
