I hope to be on it this weekend. Fri and sat mainly. Gonna hopefully get my posse.
Star Wars Battlefront
It looks amazing. Turning point is great, but so is the Walker Assault, which is one of my favourite modes.
Going to hone my skills some more in the single play missions though.
Got Jakku. I just had to go to the store and "buy" for free JAKKU DLC. Kind of annoying, but hey, it's not a PC.
Annoyed that there is no solo Jakku? Well, there won't be any more solo expansions at all. Just get used to that.
I did play with a buddy online tonight and drank beer. I actually got my first MOST KILLS for a round. Woohoo! It was a Blaze round on Endor. I feel good. I won't tomorrow.
I am so happy that I don't care about single player content, takes a lot of things I could complain about away.
I play Walker Assault almost exclusively. The scale of the battle is incredible. Until Boba Fett gets on that first hill in Hoth .. it's a great game.
I still feel little cheated in that there are really only 4 maps (5 now with Jakku) and no Single Player. I understand that SP is a not a 'Battlefront' kind of game play but when the Call of Duties and Halos can release a decent SP campaign AND 5-6 MP maps on release, I just feel like we didn't get sold a complete package.
Also not being able to get a game in the AM hurts. Anyone else in Aus/NZ having this problem. I was in a lobby or over an hour on Saturday morning from 6:15AM
I was playing walker assault, and at the moment my ground K/D is reliably positive now, and I had an epiphany.
X-wings, TIEs, and A-wings ARE balanced. Just not for fighter squadrons. See, I was flying an X-wing when the walkers lit up, and i swear in a pass or two i did 33% of it's health bar in. A-wing being faster and less armed would do less. and a TIE Fighter, with it's gun positioning is great at plinking rebels, as well as bullying T-47s.
T-47s, while lousy in a dogfight, instakill the walkers, as you know (got that achievement over the weekend too).
Fighter squadrons, though is a dif matter ,as only pure anti-air is what matters so a-wings.
Also Falcon is OP, when you can instakill the opposing hero, while taking no damage (and they can't do that to you) that's OP. I admit I love doing that, but it's OP.
Edited by DariusAPBI'm getting better. I was playing Friday night in Blaze or Capture the Pod (my 2 favorite) and kept getting posted on the awards page at the end. Oh, it was for most assists or most pods captured, but I'm getting there.
My k/d is terrible since I try out the bigger battles and always play to the objective instead of my k/d. So, I'll get something like 3 - 22 in some matches (but we win). Still, it's fun.
Only played a little more in the air game. I am able to kill real pilots now. I'm about even with k/d if you include the bot pilots.
I am liking the game more. A lot of the guns are surprisingly balanced, depending on the trait/cooldown you have. For example the heavy rapid fire blasters with focus or ion shot are evil.
Me... EE3 and T21B. I figure too many people use DL-44s for me to want to get point blank, and with dancing being so stupidly effective, better off making their widdle pistols useless due to range.
The E-11 and A280C are very nice guns, which you start with but... EE3 just more versatile I find.
I also love doublekilling with the pulse rifle (sniper rifle jobby).
I've even shot TIE's out of the air with that. Always upgrade your cards!
Cycler rifle is truly useless now though.
Edited by DariusAPBI've not gotten the EE3 yet. Soon, though. I do like the DL-44's and A-280C. I occasionally use the 5 shot pistol. I like the E-11 at times, too.
I tend to like double grenades. Throw one and people think you are out. Then throw the other. Or...throw the Impact one first and hit them directly. Learned that the hard way.
I have found a good use for the Ion Torpedo, especially in Walker mode. I was Imps and no one was able to stop a few pilots. I kept hanging back and firing my Ion Torp at them and was able to kill wounded ones and caused good pilots to evade the torpedoes instead of doing damage. It helped a lot. It also helps against walkers, AT-ST's, and Tie Fighters.
Edited by heychadwickOh the grenades...
i once killed 5 people on tatooine with what amounts to a random throw.
I knew they were roughly there, i had no LOS, i threw. I grenade streaked. I had no prior kills that game. It was where the pit is, under the GR75. I was above that area having recently respawned. I can only figure the grenade must have fell into one of the corridors where the imperials camping.
I attribute 0% of this to my skill, and all to dumb luck.
Ion torpedo is amazing in walker assault.
My loadout is usually the pulse rifle, scout, jetpack and either EE-3 or T21B.
T21B actually acts like an M14/M21 in battlefield/cod/halo's DMR. EE3 is the SIG552 from rainbow 6 Vegas.
Ion torpedoes in Walker assault are very useful near the end when the rebels get a bunch of airspeeders and try to trip the at-ats.
Out of curiosity, how many BF3 fans played BF 1 and 2 when they were released? I was a huge fan of Both Battlefront and Battlefield when they were released, but Battlefront 3 was a huge disappointment to me in virtually every way.
I did not, but most of the guys I play with did. One of us didn't buy the game after the beta and absolutely hated it, the others say they enjoy it as a very different game from bf1/2. It is a casual shooter with nice Star Wars assets and fun gunplay. Not having a stupid accuracy penalty while moving goes a long way to making the shooting enjoyable.
I still play the original battlefronts, they are kid safe so play with my son. great games.

Right? As soon as I stopped playing it as battlefield/arma and started playing it as quake I got good.
Never having played a modern shooter probably helps me. My main shooter still is TF2 which is very "quake-y" in a lot of ways. Also helps with explosive and burst pistol aim, grenades and smart/Boba rockets are similar to playing demoman/soldier and the burst pistol feels very much like a TF2 shotgun to me, which I appreciate as passionate engineer.
I love the ARMA / operation flashpoint games very very much, and enjoy ultra-realistic shooters that are not like COD or battlefield at all, to me the COD series of the last 5 years are all just variations of counter-strike.
This new battlefront frustrates me as a gamer, while I like it I feel i can only compare it negatively against the original BF1 and 2, I have to acknowledge that it does do a lot right (walker assault, the gorgeous graphics, squadrons - kind of). Given the arguments i've had over which gun is best, the weapons are balanced, the ATST is balanced, most fighters that are not A-wings are balanced, but so much of the game is plagued by balance issues (walker assault, squadrons).
Homing shot needs to be toned down a little. sure it's easy to avoid if you are behind cover, but sometimes even if you jetpack away it follows you, feels like a cheap shot.
Cycler rifle is useless - completely.
Pulse rifle... mixed bag. I'd say damage needs to be toned down a little but otherwise balanced.
The minimalistic single player and co-op content really hurts it, emphasis on the latter. The customization options... mixed bag. What I will say is that i can see me switching to shadow trooper on endor, then back to scout trooper for everything else except hoth (regular snow trooper). I feel like more options for skins should have been included for both factions, including camo options. I truly hate playing Empire on endor... To be fair, I hated playing Empire on Yavin/Ender on the other two battlefront games too.
I enjoy the game, keep playing it, love playing it with my friends but EA/dice need to really look at the balance issues before the player base dries up. Already I've found it hard to get into a server for some game types (supremacy after jakku)...
The worst offender, for me at least is fighter squadrons. Don't get me wrong, 95% of the time I am top of the scoreboard. But as Rebel it's 12-20 kills 0-4 deaths. As Imperial it's 4-12 kills, 2-6 deaths. I'd be ok with it being asymmetric, with different points being given, same for hero vs infantry, but if you do that, just remove the K/D stats for those games. It doesn't help that Mil Falcon>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Slave 1, (due to the ramming with shields glitch) and A-wing>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Tinterceptor (due to the soft lock glitch).
Frustrates me as a game because it's squandering potential, it's not a bad game but could be way better.
Kinda like original release Destiny.
This said though, it does some things amazingly. Turning point and hero hunt - while shameless rips from halo, UT etc are still great, walker assault is fantastic, and the fact that you make your own class - perfect, I hate class based. Survival / battle are fun but... needs moar co-op.
Edited by DariusAPBThe emotes are useless. I would've loved to see something like the Brothers in Arms games instead, so you can coordinate.
The one where you fistpunch at the ground is a good alternative to the classic teabag.

I spam the loud emotes while waiting for turning point to start. I like the ion shock the best. Saber fight is funny to hear too.
My wife ordered me the ps4 battlefront combo deal that was on sale this past weekend for my Xmas present. So I'll be giving this game a go in just a couple weeks.
I can't wait for all the Christmas noobs to come in. Blaster fodder!
I hadn't thought of that....
I seem to do better in an X-Wing than an A-Wing ... but I do better in an Interceptor than Fighter.
That said, every time I fly Imperial, I am reminded that the A-Wing is brrrooookeeennnn. I can't hit it, to the point where, even if I'm in Slave 1, I just go looking for X-Wings to shoot instead.
They need to fix that.
Also, the shields give the Rebel players absolute mastery over the initial joust on the non-squadron maps. When I'm in a TIE, we're blown out of the sky every time, but when I'm on Rebel side, just pop that shield and kill them, then swoop the ground.
Yep...
