Star Wars Battlefront

By heychadwick, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I dislike the Outer Rim rotation. I just will I could play Extraction or Blast and not be thrown into heroes vs villains. I cannot stand that mode. It turns into camp fest if one of the teams is down a hero or two. Then if you are just a regular soldier, you just are cannon fodder. Its just not fun.

I dunno. I kind of feel that the win hinges on you, the trooper, if you are down to one hero. You have to get out and kill the enemy heroes to win the game.

I can recall one time I found a really wounded Boba and Greedo in a back hallway. I had a T-21 (not b) and gas grenade. Greedo kept trying to bait me into running into the hallway, but I wouldn't do it. He kept popping out to get a shot off and I just kept nailing him. I forced both of them to run out of the hallway and into a group of my team and we win a few seconds later. It was pretty cool!

The time limits do prevent it from getting too boring and campy. I find I do like the Hero games more than I thought I would.

I do get what you are saying, though. I agree.

OK....so I'm now lvl 60 and I unlocked all the upgrades. I feel a little bit directionless when I try to game. I was so geared towards trying to get those accomplishments that I feel a little rudderless without them.

I have been working towards the little missions they give you. Get x kills with y weapon. They are fun.

Besides that, I've also found I like just picking Outer Rim and seeing what type of game mode I get. Not always in the mood for it, but it is fun when I try.

I just bought the first four wing commander games on GOG. Battlefleet gothic: Armada comes out of beta in 2 weeks.

Starcraft 2 is fulfilling my Heinleinesque addiction to space marines.

Space Engineers is still my single go-to for my space hulk exploring/space piracy.

Until Battlefront has something more in the way of co-op or SP bots.. i don't even forsee my xbox one being booted up any time soon.

I like the DTL-19X, its really good with a cooling cell. I wouldn't be surprised if it had the highest dpm in the game out of all infantry carried select-able weapons when it has cooling cell. Killed a A-wing and a Snow Speeder with one. I was looking forward to using the toxic gas grenades, turns out they may only be good in king of the hill style game modes. Unless one, maybe more than 2, are used at a time it seems it can't kill people well since the can just run through it. Unless of course they are already hurt bad.

Guns of Icarus Online has excited me again. I have never had a better multiplayer experience in my life with random people. Its just beautifull. Its a 10€ indie game and Battlefront can't even dream of coming close.

Never heard of it. Just looked it up.

THAT LOOKS AMAZING!

I had wondered about that, but hadn't tried it yet. So, I guess it's good! I've got a mission to get 75 kills with a sniper rifle, so I think I'll try this out.

It's a lot easier to get toxic gas kills on the other game modes, like Evacuation. That's the best one for it. Any time you capture a point or droid is good. It's not too bad on others. It's good if you know where someone is camping or there is a choke point. It's also good if you see some people, but want to split them up. Throw it out there and the first usually rushes through while the back people peel off. Makes it easier, but just don't be out in the open while you are throwing. It's also good as it goes through the little force shield bubbles.

No Xbox, so no for me.

You hit the nail on the head there mate.

Before I got a new shiny PC and re-joined the PC master race, then yeah Xbox gaming was it. But compared to the 360 Xbox ones games are SO DISAPPOINT!

My PC gets lots of love.

Its a Unity game. Chances are that if your laptop/PC is half decent and can display HD images, you can set settings low enough to run it at at least 30, which isn't nice but enough since you don't need to twitch-aim.

The game has a small to tiny community, though for anyone overly excited when he sees it. Waiting for a match can take a while. Luckily the lobby experience is often enjoyable because of how good the community is. I also never had a problem to ultimately find a game, even when there were only 29 people online world wide (I sadly have to play off peak times most of the time). On weekends the numbers can spike up to 500, though, which easily works. During Steam sales hell breaks loose and everone gets in there. It makes the expereince quite different, but it is statisfying to show some noobs the ropes and lead them to victory.

Well....I'm done with PC games. Done. I have been a PC gamer for 42 years? Back when the PC Jr came out. I think PC games are superior, but I'm sick of the issues with the PC. I got an Xbox One last year and I've not played a game besides Civilization V on it. No more action games for me on a pc. It's just a lot easier on an Xbox.

Also, my pc is acting weird. When I reboot it, I have to unplug all USB connectors while it's POSTing. Then, I need to repair the MBR, but I don't have a working cd-rom or dvd drive. Win 10 requires an actual disk. So, unplug it all. Reboot. Let it get to the OS selection screen. Plug them all back in. Crawl out from behind pc. Select Win 10. Boot up. Bleh. Don't want to spend any more money on a stupid pc thing anymore.

I never had a Xbox 360 and am utterly satisfied with my Titanfall and Star Wars Battlefront that I have played on it.

I use the laptop for strategy games like X-Com, or longer games such as the Anno series, or Total War.

Graphics and action go on the Xbox

Build a 600€ gaming PC a while back. Its going to last me at least as long as the concurrent console generation with a much higher performance. I put a lot of effort into getting the components as cheap as possible, but I am happy that I've done it. Never had any trouble with it.

Yeah, I did that a while back, too. I don't really want to do it again. My machine is alright, with the exception of the boot issues. It can play games, but I'm just happy to move to the Xbox now. I don't want to build another game machine is the deal. I've been doing that for YEARS.

To be fair this is the same PC vs console argument that has been going on longer than some of us have been alive, and when i couldn't afford to spend on a new PC a console did the job fine. You pays your money, you takes your choice.

If you want to go console, not judging. I did that for about 6 years. I've just done PC longer. In my opinion the xbox 360 was a better console than the xbox one in terms of game availability, exclusives, comparison to PC etc.

Many would argue.

You're not the only one who has been doing it longer than many have been alive here mate. I got my grey hairs and stories of dialup, acoustic coupling and tape loading too.

Its good to see consoles still do have something to offer. It would be a shame if that part of gaming history died! It just isn't for me since I don't even own a TV and have no intention of doing so in the near future (until I can afford a place where there is space for a living room blu-ray/streaming setup).

Haha! My favorite game as a kid was "Tunnels of Doom" on my TI-88! I had to load it off a cassette player. EEwww..ohohoho.aahcchhh..eeeeeeee!

Yeah, it's just a choice. I think pc games are superior in every way, except cost and the struggle to always have a gaming rig. I was a huge pc advocate for many many years. I just finally caved in.

Oh, and at least the Xbox is allowing 360 games to run on it now. That and they will allow mixed pc gamers with console gamers soon. I'm not sure about that, but my brother is on pc and I can play with him. That will be nice.

Consoles are the next best thing to a PC and usually cheaper than comparable.

Sometimes (MASS EFFECT SERIES) a console is the better choice, due to things like lack of gamepad support.

Sometimes (ANY RTS, any REAL flight sim) The PC is pretty much the only choice.

Even the console of choice can change. Xbox is more for serious gamers, FPS like Halo, though arcade caters to kids well.

PS is for... I dunno anymore. People in Denial? The PS has "better hardware" but rarely exclusive games or anything that reallly stands out. Ok, No mans sky. There is No mans sky to Xbox' Elite Dangerous.

Both are on PC. PC wins.

Halo is on xbox, and while I have come to accept that 343 will never make anything that tops Halo 3 or Reach, I will play every Halo game.

Wii is the classic grandpa/kid gaming rig. It will continue to be. Nintendo's always been about that.

It's as hard a decision as i was in 1993. PC got the serious stuff, Amiga is a good allrounder, and if you can't afford those you got the SNES(better hardware, arguably games) and Mega Drive(Genesis in the US) (Mortal Kombat with blood!).

I chose the Mega Drive, and had a second hand Amiga 500+. This thing was the greatest computer of it's day. I also had a NES before then, and a ZX Spectrum 128K before then. (I still have it. I WILL BE BURIED WITH IT).

If I were to get a console in addition to my PC it would be a WiiU, just because it is the only one with exclusives that interest me. Splatoon looks like too much fun!

Wii U is best for partygaming and kids too.

I should get one.

I'd probably hold off on a Wii U at this point. Nintendo is probably going to drop a new console in a year or two.

Which would likely mean the wii u and it's games will become cheap.

The idea is to get it for the kids, eh?

True. I like Smash Bros and Mario Party is pretty fun, especially when turned into a drinking game. :P

Anyway, back to BF. So... the two new heroes in the Bespin DLC will be none other than Lando (kind of obvious) and Dengar.

I was really expecting Bossk here, since we already have his weapon in the game. Still no Chewie, but I bet we get him on the next DLC.

Nintendo is pretty good about keeping the content very family friendly, especially online content. No mics is actually pretty amazing.

EA have announced that there will be more offline support, so I have hopes there. I'll always prefer being a part of a tight unit fighting against AIs. Just how I roll.
