Star Wars Battlefront

Yeah I'll have to give it another go now a-wing is less OP.

It's a pleasant surprise to see EA actually doing something post launch to improve a game.

I'm gonna try out cynical you here Hobo.

Of course they are post launch supporting it, Star Wars is a major cash cow for them, plus they are still hoping to hawk season passes!

Well I don't think anyone would complain if they want to take our money by providing a great service...

Actually EA has started this year pretty well with publishing Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare launching as a full game . Without microtransactions! When the first part was absolutely full of such nonsense! A sequel that actually improves on the predecessor significantly. Kind of sad that this is what is aplaudable when it comes to AAA games nowadays.

Gaider leaving Bioware says otherwise.

So I finally played a few rounds of fighter squadron.

Wow. Big rebalance. Not being sarcastic. It seems they changed a few things up, it's like the target needs to be nearer centre/locked now to hit. So Evading and dodging around matters more now. Still prefer the A-wing. Still balanced in favour of the Rebs, but that's just because unlike XWM shields are good, and boost isn't.

Yeah i struggle to make 'boost' useful, sometimes its good for hitting it and diving or climbing quickly, it works as a 'not very good evasive manouvre'. TBH, they would have been better off giving the TIEs the option to 'barrel roll' as a '2nd evasive' so they became much harder to hit.

The only other time i find boost handy is that sometimes i rocket up really high in the atmosphere and dive down on ships that are trying to escape or wander up that way. Its not the most 'heroic' of tactics but if im told i need '10 kills in a tie fighter' its what i tend to do.

I tend to see a lot fewer A-Wings these days.

Boost is useless unless you want to close in on the action quickly.

Actually its good for that and also good for snagging a slave 1 power up quickly and not getting shot up on the way in to it.

I'd like to see it have like a 2 - 5 second "can't lock me" time. Not as powerful as shields but versatile and actually gives a survival chance.

I have started to do something with Boost if I'm close to the ground. I'll twist and dive towards the ground. I'll hit the turn around maneuver and then Boost straight up. It usually gets off my back anyone that was on it. If I don't have maneuver, then I go towards the ground, slow down, turn around, and then do it. It catches people off-guard still, but not as well.

I also use Boost to get towards the Shuttle for defense or offense.

Finally got to play some after not playing for at least a month. I do feel Fighter Squadron is better, but still skewed a bit towards the Rebels. I just do better in X-wings and A-wings. The hero units are still a tad too tough.

Ground combat is a lot better now.

Taking away defenses from TIEs as a mock balancing was a terrible idea.

I use it to evade missiles fired at me. I also use it to quickly re-position myself to a location that compromises incoming enemy fighters. I also purposely don't lock-on to them till its to late for them to do anything about me being where I am.

I haven't stopped playing since the game came out. I have to ask....what's different for Ground Combat now? I haven't really noticed anything that's changed in the game for Ground Combat. Well, except the players and their strategies.

Less spamming weapons like the BH trait + Bowcaster combo. Homing shot is less annoying and in fact kind of sucks now (which is fine by me). The Pulse cannon is a lot more inaccurate so you don't die by it 20 times a match when you play Turning Point or Walker assault. Basically a lot of balance tweaks to the weapons have made it a more enjoyable game.

Is it just me or do Tie Interceptors suck? I do way better in a Tie/ln.

You might be on to something...

I've always done better in a Tie Fighter.

Interceptors and A-wings attract more attention, easier to pick out among the AIs...

Interceptors were always less defended and more of a priority.

8.795GB download today.

No clue what Hutt contracts are, but I need the new guns.

Hutt contracts are actually a pretty good way to introduce new guns and star cards. Basically a Hutt Contract costs credits to take. You then have certain requirements to fulfill that contract. Like get 40 kills with a blaster rifle, 20 kills with a thermal detonator, etc. Once you complete that you get the unlock.

I'm pretty sure they did a similar thing with BF3 & 4 with their DLC.

Still downloading... I hate that updates to games are just plain massive now.

Oh, in the patch, they are going to team balance between matches! YES! That alone is worth it.

Nien Numb is wicked. Finally a hero I can play and not immediately die with. Haven't had a chance to try Greedo yet.

I'll never unlock some of the contracts... so they suck and it's a bad design and I'm pissed and want a discount on the expansion. I don't get 15 kills a round, let alone 15 with a single weapon.

Greedo is a bit ridiculous. His gun seems like a one hit kill and he gets grenades for days. The auto-shoot thing doesn't work well at all though.

Sorry bud. EA has your money and soul already.

And extraction is excellent. As fun as turning point. I hope we will soon be able to select it directly instead of just as part of the playlist.

So, I do the download and try to play. There are 3 more guns and I don't see any of the new maps in rotation. I'm thinking....where are the new maps? I then notice that Outer Rim is grayed out. I google it and it seems I have to go into the Xbox store and "buy" the expansion? That's stupid. I mean, I just downloaded it. Why can't I just play it. OK....so I do that and....it's still not working? I've got to go into the Xbox store and "install" the Season Pass that I bought? What? Ugh.....so stupid.

So, I played a bunch last night, but never got to play any of the new maps. I did buy all the contracts for the new items. Sooo hard to get kills with scout pistol and scout rifle. Bleh.

Also, why am I not getting any money after the missions? I get the points, but when it then normally converts it to cash....it says all 0's. Is that a bug or some sort of thing I just don't know about?

Not sure I'm on PS4.

On that you can select the Outer Rim Expansion playlist under the regular playlist icon. That should only be the new maps. On the Hutt Palace map you should rack up Scout Pistol kills pretty quickly. Its a very close quarters map.

3 More ships?!?!? Which ships?
