I could write a squadron guide:

First off, see the X-wing and TIE Fighter? Ignore them, Interceptor and A-wing FTW.

Basically full throttle till you can engage, then all power to guns, and keep tailing an opponent till it's dead. if you get shot at by a player you have a split second to hit RB to either speed boost or shield, / engines to full then go skim the ground, repair acquire target, all to guns and continue.

By all means potshot heroes, but don't bother trying to kill them.

Once you are a hero, just all to guns and keep killing. you'll never die.

Oh, and always hold down LT for lock. autolocking, focus on players first - because you are a **** and like to kill players, when there aren't players, kill whatever AI you see.

Shoot the Transport with all guns, but don't bother hiding on it's tail, just turn, kill a player and turn back to finish off. The transport is slow enough that you don't need to lock, and if you can see it you can hit it, shoot from range. Close in, kill players, finish.

There. That's my guide. It's what I do, and well. Even though i've got only an hour and a half play, my KD is over 2.85, with 67% win rate. It works. I rarely bother trying to hero, and even without getting it I was always top3 in the scoreboards - usually 1st. The one time I did get a hero near the beginning of a game, I was 1st - with enough score to encompass the next 4 guys after me.

One other thing I do is while leaving the button controls standard, I switched stick to southpaw. It feels more natural.

Oh, and the minimap doesn't even work in Fighter Squadron. This game's a joke right now.

It works, but it's soo close it's useless. It's set for infantry engagement range.

I hope to see B-wings, Y-wings, Bombers and... something else(Assault gunboat? LOL ) in the game to make it more varied.

Is it? Because I'm sure it doesn't work in Squadron Battles but works fine (but short) in Walker Assault and other modes. Bug?

I was SOOOOO excited for Squadron Battles but it's just incredibly shallow right now. Really too bad :(

I rather enjoy it.

It's probably a bug though, the scanner being set for infantry rather than other modes.

I did forget my last tip.

If someone shoots you down more than once assume they are one of the 5% who know what they are doing, and target prioritize them.

Space mode needs B-Wings and a TIE Advanced minimum. Also needs some updates : Fix Radar, make X-Wings and TIE Fighters more viable, probably boost both imperials ships somehow. That or nerf A-Wings. Also nerf hero ships. Make it to that if you get a hero ship you can't get it again next game. (Games are crazy short as-is). Would like some new maps. a Bespin map would be sweet.

Would like a new mode that is PRIMARILY flying, but also has a ground component. Like two orbital platforms and each side needs to pilot a transport or two to the other side. You can get in there and be a gunner, and then jump out when you get to the enemy's platform - you can man turrets on the surface, or go and try to de-activate their power generator, etc. When you spawn you can get into a ship or spawn as a person.

As for the ground game, would like a free-for-all mode, just straight up deathmatch.

New heroes will probably be Lando for rebels. Not sure who for Empire, maybe Dengar? Would like a whole SLEW of heroes. All the bounty hunters for empire, and scoundrels for Rebellion. - Kyle Katarn, Dash Rendar, Lando. Heck, I'd like to see 10 heroes per side at some point. Toss in Ackbar, Mara Jade, Greedo, even Lobot.

The Not being able to take the hero ship twice is a very good one. Hell, i'd almost just have it randomly generated who gets the hero.

Going off the players guide, X-wings have better guns than the a-wing, which should be obvious. TIEs, all of them, apparently were made game mechanic wise to have weaker main guns than the rebel versions. Also I am pretty sure its a bug but Reb fighters can identify player controlled imp fighters at greater ranges.

I would recommend just using Interceptors and X-Wings because they have the best firepower. Missiles a re a different story, a-wings might have better missiles, I didnt care to read the parts about missiles for x-wings and a-wings.

The Interceptor and A-Wing both shoot 2 missiles instead of 1 like the X-Wing and TIE Fighter. Not sure if total damage is more or less, or it's purely visual.

The Ints and X-Wings also have more guns, but that doesn't mean they're actually doing more damage than the TIE Fighters and the A-Wings.

In short, we have no idea and everything is guesswork because no one has datamined anything for the game yet.

Last thing, I think the TIEs shoot Ion torpedoes that goes through Rebel shields. Someone confirm?

It would be interesting to do a combined troop transport shuttling over to a Star Destroyer/Mon Calamar with fighter support and gain points for keeping them alive and getting them on target. Troop transport players could man the guns and fighter support can take pot shots at incoming fighters. Could be cool.

Transport lands and those players now have a ground mission to do. Fighters can land and go to troop mode inside, do sabotage, take out ship turret defenses. Lots of playability.

Xwings and tie fighters die quicker. I target them first as they are easy kills, whereas with an A-wing i risk chasing it around missing for 2 minutes while his wingman picks me off. Really annoying buggers to fight, x-wings though. they die so quick.

I've decided after a bunch more games that the A-wing is a little imba compared to the tinter, but not much. That hitbox makes them a tad too hard to kill.

I've unlocked the T-21 rifle, but it doesn't seem to have the stopping power it's low refire rate seems to require. Back to Daisy (my E-11).

Battlefront II was like that, but it wasn't all that engaging. Throw time bombs on the thing until it dies, then lurk next to an ammo droid until you had enough time bombs to do it to something else. Maybe it would be more interesting with human players, but in all honesty space battles in II got really boring if I didn't decide to just fly starfighters for the whole game.

The problem with battlefront is that really, there's nothing to it.

I see your point and felt the same way. Very small scope for initial release. Salt is rubbed into the wounds when on the menu screen is a huge advertisement for the season pass which boasts 4 expansions. I understand developers plan for future releases but when it is thrown in your face on day 1 .. Kind of feels like we werent sold a complete package.

Regardless, the Walker Assault game is off the wall fun, especially if you get a few mates in the mix.

Edit: Of note, i'll admit to liking the original BC3K when it was patched enough to be fun. But the followups were terribad.

So, wife tells me today she has extra coin in the kitty and we need another controller. So I ask her if she is thinking about a 2 player co-op game (I'm thinking Halo 5) but she asks me if I wouldn't prefer Star Wars Battlefront better. I told her if it was co-op then sure, if not then we get Halo 5 (because we've done all of them together in co-op and I know Halo is co-op).

Turns out I now have Battlefront and just did the tutorial, Beggar's canyon, that absolutely nuts Endor speeder bike run, the Walker escort, and now a survival with just me and my wife against 15 waves of Empire troops.

I doubt I will be getting any multiplayer time but I will look into it. Sergovan1 if anybody bumps into me in game.

The problem is that they are half a dozen 5 minute tutorial missions. That doesn't make a co-op game. Hopefully the expansions add more.

Now I will admit that I did just buddy up with some friends about an hour ago, and it was a much more fun game then.

I love my T-21 B.

There are a lot of OP weapons in the game, mostly cards. Homing shot, Explosive rounds, Barrage thing, etc. Hopefully they can get some balance some of these out in patches. The Homing shot is entirely too quick to lock-on and the range that you can lock someone seems pretty much infinite. I actually think it shouldn't be a one hit kill. Maybe do like 90 damage so if you are injured at all it kills. Explosive shot is pretty OP when paired with a heavy blaster. I think the damage should be a bit lower or have it increase your overheat a bunch. Barrage is just nuts. Definitely needs a nerf to the splash damage it does. Also, they should limit your cards so you can't take two grenades and or a grenade a barrage. The nade spam right now is getting excessive, especially since people are unlocking things.

Yeah the DL-44 needs its rate of fire nerfed a bit. Its really good up-close.

One of my favorite combos right now is the Shock Blaster and Focus Fire card. It basically turns it into a slug thrower and triples its effective range. I've sniped people with it.

Stealth trait plus T-21 B. and good use of cover = my favourite thing ever. After being #1 in like 90% of squadron mode i'm more or less done with it aside for 5 minute breaks while I wait for my squad to get together.

And yeah, T-21 B with explosive shot is incredible. I'd love to try it on the DLT some time.
