Once more around the Horn - Corran/Rebel help

By JamieSpace, in X-Wing

Hi,

So I haven't flown Corran or Rebles for a long time and I'm thinking about delving back in. (I have a staple few imperial lists I'm happy with)

I have the following list:

Corran Horn (35)
Push the Limit (3)
Fire-Control System (2)
R2-D2 (4)
Engine Upgrade (4)

Gray Squadron Pilot (20)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
R3-A2 (2)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Gold Squadron Pilot (18)
Twin Laser Turret (6)

Total: 100

Has the stress hog at PS4 to shoot before other generics, A Y tlt turret and PTL Corran. In the current meta of stress and High PS Vaders & Poes, does Corran want VI?

What are peoples view on the list and the choice on Corran?

Stress-Y, Boost PS-8 ace and extra TLT?

I personally love the Advanced Sensors, but if positioner carefully it's not even needed.

Yep, stress-Hog and TLT are in many cases more then enough to put some holes into the enemy.

I would go AS and drop the grey to a gold. A pair of greys is probably worth the investment, but that grey is only going to fire 1-2 rounds so PS kills will be rare. If I kept fcs and a grey I would put stressbot on the gold.

I did think about AS.

I guess the thinking is to AS, PTL to get stressed, perform a green move to be unstressed (kick in R2). All ending up un stressed in case a nasty Stresshog is around? Two stress tokens can be dealt with, 3 is just nasty.

Not having the extra target lock for double tap does make him hit a little less hard tho!

Yea, but if they don't kill him early he is all but immune to any other single ship. So they have to kill him early. So your Stresshog can just rock them all. FCS gets you blocked and dead. I think it is as good as AS in this list, but it is a lot harder to play well. And a good opponent will bring down the fcs Corran pretty easily.

I have the points so I will give it a go. So def thinking PTL over VI? I guess having that AS barrel roll/boost can really help against the higher PS ships when you might have an idea where they are going to land

Since he is worth 48 or 49 points he doesn't have to be able to kill them to get a full win. Just not die. AS let's you do that.

I'd definitely invest in VI over PTL.

I mean, your Corran build is the same as Nathan Eide's and that worked fine for him at worlds.

I think you just have to alter your playstyle with that build in this high-stress meta. Nathan was very aggressive with Corran and would even soak stress just to get into position for a PTL double-tap. Then he'd just run away at full speed until he was at full shields again without stress.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you're flying Corran without PtL + AdvS , you're doing it wrong. With that combo, there really aren't any hard counters to him. PS 9+? Corran can focus and evade each turn, and then regen a shield. Good luck pushing damage through. Blockers? Ha! Act before moving, and then have one less guy shooting at you.

While I agree that this Corran is a lot more slippery, isn't he just about as vulnerable to stress as FCS Corran? Anything that could double stress him would have a decent chance to take him out of the game. The extra damage from FCS can sometimes make up for the reduced maneuvering options.

the only corran with any decent chance against stress control is jammer corran

sensors are for shenanigans and survivability against other match-ups, FCS is for abusing the hell out of his ability

Scopes is for being silly

How about bb8 ptl Wedge? IA drops soon, and no-one spooks me when I'm flying aces as much as Old Wedgie. Enough points left for a prototype blocker and a bid...
