Camcorders set up for battle reports

By Lyraeus, in Star Wars: Armada

What good ways are there for a stationary camcorder?

I am looking for a nice easy method for this and answers will determine what style of tripod I will be buying. With cyber Monday on the horizon I should be able to get the things I need to move Armada Tactics News on to phase 4 so I can do tactical and battle reports.

I have a standard tripod, but I collapse it to where it's only like 2 feet tall, and I actually place it ON the table, right next to the board. Your view is somewhat skewed, but it's the best option without some bizarre apparatus suspending a camera directly overhead.

I'm this || close to putting my GoPro on my 8 foot ladder and just doing it that way.

The DIY project works.

I might just buy a tall tripod.

I'd think a boom style telescoping microphone stand would work to suspend a camera over a game map. Something like this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/755878-REG/auray_ms_5230t_tripod_microphone_stand.html

You would probably need to obtain an adapter to mount whatever camera you are using to the 5/8" threaded mount.

... and now I read the earlier post where WWPDSteven says that's what he used, oh well

Any ideas on connecting this to a camcorder?

you're welcome

I am looking at a VIXIA HF R52 or R600.. . With cyber Monday coming up it will be cheaper.

DAT...

:D

I am getting slowly setup to do some fun videos too. The idea Crabs posted works if you put the tripod on a desk chair with nice rollers. Then you can move the whole setup smoothly.

White Trash knows stuff too!

I am giving some thought to doing an overhead rig for upcoming Store Championship/Regional season. It'll allow me to mount cameras for both dice rolling and the game board. I had decent success with a tall tripod but I really want to get that overhead view.

They have the backdrop supports on amazon that should be able to hold two cameras (2 logitech c920s) I use for streaming, http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B004HR42LK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=BB8BGQJB19BQ&coliid=I13N4HZLCF2ESS
