Dodoma + xx9 turbo lasers

By mikemcmann, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

I believe I understand this...but just wanted the hive mind to confirm..

I get two damage on a ship that "makes it" to damage resolution step. One of which is a critical.

When player goes to draw first face up damage, I "choose" the one they get. Then, goes to draw second face up damage....I "choose" the one again from the top four?

The language and sequence of drawing would seem so....just wanted to confirm.

Thanks!

And...of course spell check fail

That's "Dodonna"

You would do 4 and then 4 and choose a card from each.

Remember, you resolve each damage card first before moving to the next.

What I thought....just seemed delightfully tough

Thanks!!

It could be disgustingly brutal, but I don't see a lot of people running XX-9.

I've actually seen a few Imps take it with Screed. So if they can put 2 damage on my hull, they can get two face-ups. It's not the greatest combo ever, but combined with a little Gladiator softening it makes some sense.

Edit: the general game plan seems to be A) box or herd using twin Glads and B) let rip with that forward Vic-I arc. When I'm also running Vics it has some merit, against more agile ships, not so much.

I ran it accidentally at Sullust when my buddy who was going to go decided to oversleep didn't show up. I had loaned him my only Ion Cannon Batteries.

Quick, name a 5 point upgrade that helps a Screed fleet!

I don't think I ended up using it. I mean, I used it every crit from that ship - but I don't think it triggered any extra face ups, lol.

It could be more useful once Wave 2 is out, and we see more lists running large-base ships with the Contain token. Even if you're only getting a single card through at least you've countered one of their tokens.

You'll also see more damage being applied, which also increases the odds that it'll find use.

It is a good F you to the Contain token though, lol.

I used a neb firing line last night of 5x nebs with slaved turrets. it worked very well and destroyed 5 Vics in two games. Winning both games.

My thought was later, if my last Neb firing in the "line" had xx9 and dodonna, I was shooting five reds with con fire I could likely snag the "double cirt" effect and really tear into ships. Simply because by the time the last neb was firing, the Vic had no shields or defense tokens left....

Precision Strike. You would get 2 victory tokens with XX-9's. Though, I think this will only occur at the end of the game/end of the defending ships life.

That's a pretty nice combo potentially; Dodonna, XX-9s, Precision Strike. If nothing else it's a good way to guarantee your opponent won't choose that mission from your list!
