I'm looking to buy Accuracy Corrector - Which free ship should I get with it?

By Funkleton, in X-Wing

I'm very tempted to try out a 4 TIE Adv list - 3 Tempests with Title and AC and Vader with Pred, Ttile, EU, and ATC.

But I'm short 1 copy of AC.

Which free ship should I get when I buy the card?

Starviper is the cheapest of the two choices, will give me another 2 copies of autothrusters - which I have been wanting for some time - but the 'Viper itself doesn't really turn me on too much and I already have one.

IG2000, more expensive, fewer cards that I use regularly - but will finally allow me to run Brobots

I think you answered your own question. IG-2000 gives you the ability to play Brobots (which you should try). As much as more copies of Autothrusters is cool, if you have 2, you usually have enough.

StarViper, not just for the Autocorrectors but also for Calculation.

And two StarVipers will allow you to build some mean little lists, instead of yet another boring dual Aggressor. :P..

1 Viper and 2 IGs

gets you your correctors and the correct number of each relevant scum ship

I vote StarViper. The generics are highly underrated, and pair well with a bigger threat. :-)

Realistically, the IG will see the table before the second starviper. And rarely do you need more than 2 autothrusters.

6 of 1... you'll eventually want two IGs and two Vipers.

I have two IGs and I've flown them together once at a tournament. I doubt I ever will again. I LOVE Starvipers! 2 Starvipers and a big ship is a great three ship combo I just keep going back to. I trade out which big ship and/or the upgrades I put on it. The Vipers remain the same 2x Enforcers w/Autothrusters.

I'm surprised I haven't seen more 4x TIE Advanced lists. Vader + 3 Tempests with AC is easy to fly, hard to kill, and VERY fun. If I'm playing Epic, EVERY Imperial list I create has 2 or 3 TIE Advanced with AC in it. They are durable and support the Raider well.

The problem with the a.c. tempests is when they get their evade action they're good but without it (stress, blocking) they don't feel as good and the dial is a little stiff, so it seems quite easy off the cuff but ends up being trickier than expected.

Practice will fix this. There is an unexpected psychological effect to this list as well. The first time your Advanced squad rips through a ship because of bad defensive dice, your opponent will start to second guess actions and movements. They are the Spanish Inquisition, an unexpected terror. Vader softens the target and then here comes 3 ships with two automatic hits to defend against! With 3 evade die, an evade token, and 2 shield/3 hull they are tough to kill.

Buy both.

Then you get the Accuracy Corrector, the extra Autothrusters AND you can play BroBots.

Go on.

You know it makes sense...

AC tempest are great even without actions because AC is wonderful

They absolutely are, they just have a habit of dying faster than expected without that evade. It's due to something about wishy washy octohedrons of a certain color...

No doubt, an evade or focus token goes a long way. Adding 2 shields to a TIE does as well. They last a few more rounds, even without actions. Green dice suck... but that's why AC Tempests are such a terror.
