What ships are you okay with not buying?

By Chief Hugh, in X-Wing

Epics. I simply don't see the point in buying something I'll only use once or twice.

The Moldy Crow. What a waste of a great design.

I've gotten the epics but only played it once. I probably could have saved some money and just bought the upgrade cards from them via eBay or something, but I'm not sorry I got them. They also really grab the attention of people at the store - makes them come over and look and then they see the fast action, etc. and forget about the big ones. :-)

Yeah......it just looks like an expensive Bomber that can't move as well. I don't see a reason to take it as opposed to regular Bombers.

well, you're right

there is no reason

except for the named pilots ;)

Redline is basically his own Captain Jonus, while Deathrain gets away with **** like this:

12227726_10156192032195142_5709907014231

can't say I'd bother with the generics, but the named guys are some incredible fun

OK...I have seen some neat stuff with the named guys. I just haven't found a list with them more interesting than all the other ones bouncing in my head right now. I'll probably play them at some point.

Better topic: which ship are you okay with only buying one:

A: Tie Bomber

I would say the opposite, a single Bomber somewhat sucks, but they become fun in packs of 4. When I had one Bomber I never used it, After I got the other 3 they quickly became one of my favourite ships. It is quite the investment, but if you are aware that you are spending money to have fun, not to be competetive, I can't recommend it enough.

I'd say either 3+ Bombers or none at all.

my 4 bombers agree: the more the better (planning on number 5+6). also, it just looks **** cool to fly bombers.

and you are obliged to whistle along while dropping mines and bombs left and right:

The only ship I never use (and I have tried it) _and_ has no upgrade cards that I feel are must have, is the Scyk.

At some point I'm going to cross reference the people who don't actually own particular ships in this thread with the people posting in threads asking for "fixes" for said ships.

I bet it will make interesting reading.

The hounds tooth has just not "wowed" me yet

Its power is clear but it does not speak to me

I own all the ships. apart from large in multiples.

For the record right now I don't think anything really needs fixing that badly. Apart from maybe generic e-wings and defenders. I own three of each.

Hope that helps.

I have not purchased any imperial ships. I have zero urge too either.

Tie fo

TAP

Ghost

Gozanti

New core set

..and that's okay. the fraction of "law, order and justice" is not for everybody :-)

:-D

I haven't gotten the new core set yet, but I will on my next order.

I agree about that. It just doesn't interest me.

Dengar, on the other hand, does. I just have a thing for Dengar for some reason. I normally hate turreted ships, but here I find myself wanting the Punishing One.

Rebel Transport (because I have the X-Wing cards from it already)

Tantive (despite it having everyone's fav golden rod in it)

If it wasn't for the new TIE pilots and Kallus, I wouldn't be getting the Gozanti either. Same for the Raider.

Depending on how awesome tractor beams are, and what the crew abilities for Zuckuss and 4-Lom are, I can easily skip the Mist Hunter too.

Anything imperial. I don't fly imps, and I got burned plenty of times when cards I needed released with later ships I wanted (I'm looking at you, Predator). If any more non-imperial epics come out I'm fine skipping those too. Getting the tantive and only using one card (and one that makes me feel dirty while I'm doing it) was bad enough...

Other than that, nothing's off the table.

I'm collecting as well as playing the game so I get at least 1 of each. But I think the M3-A is the one ship nobody needs... until they include a fix in the Jabba's Yatch expansion. ;)

The YT-1300 and the Decimator - they'd just be so dull to fly (though I'm fine with flying against them). The only reason I have a YT2400 is because I can leave the Outrider title off to make things interesting...

I don't have a CR90 - it's very much a 'would like to have' than a 'must have'.

I would say all episode 7 stuff but I already got a new core set. Might as well keep up.

I can do without the majority of the Scum ships. I bought Most Wanted, the Star Viper and a Scyk, but the Scyk was more for RPG use than for X-wing.

Ships seen on screen take priority to me, though I've also picked up the VT-49, YT-2400, Imperial Raider and the TIE Defender. My thematic tastes let me skip on multiples of large ships (which thankfully saves me some cash), and I honestly found nothing which appealed about Wave 7. Being a casual player, I don't see any need to get the K-wing just for upgrades.

I think that, generally speaking, I'm okay with not buying any ship I'm not interested in playing with.

That's because dengar is the least PWT

His ability, as well as oicuun's, actually let you care about your facing and positioning

I am not playing competitively, play mostly with the family. Both deathmatches and scenario/campaign, partly proxying. Thus I have a more unusual collection, e.g. voluntarily owning 3 Hwks (great for painting! - I like to paint and mod).

Not planning to buy:
All pancakes (oldest child however, considers buying the Falcon self, but I guess might instead go for the
VCX/Ghost, when it comes)
Rebel Aces
YT49
TFA core set
TFA T70 & Ties
Imperial Aces
Q-tip (stupid armour over solar panels)
TIE Punisher (feels lackluster, both ship and stuff coming with it)
Brobots
Firespray
Raider

Undecided:
Tantive (it looks so **** cool, also really nicely weathered - but expensive and out of scale)
Rebel Transport (looks cool, good for scenarios but out of scale, and do not really need one more X)
YV 666
TIE Phantom (as I am the evil Imp player, I guess fielding a Phantom is too depressing for the kids)
TIE Defender
Gozanti (depends a lot what follows, and its final look)
Flying Toilet Seat (stupid looking ship, but might be fun to fly with the stuff it comes with)
Mist Hunter (depends pretty much on the cards, do not really like the look)
A-Wing (out of scale)
E-Wing (if I buy one, then mainly for Corran, would then kitbash the third cannon to another location on the ship)

I didn't buy most of the last wave. Punisher never wowed me at all, the Kryxaksics fighter looked like a scum version of the Xwing (Which needed a fix) and the Kwing is ugly, but I got it for the TLT.

I also never bought the Yt-1300, the ship never excited me much in terms of flying, it's cooler to watch in the movies then to play it in a match.

Punisher never wowed me at all

Fix that

now

I actually don't recall what his ability is or the stats of the ship. I listened to an audio book of the Bounty Hunter Wars that made him sound terrible. I looked into his background a bit and really liked what I read. So, I am looking forward to the ship for fluff reasons.

The Tantive.

And with Wave VIII, I currently have little interest in both the Punishing One and the Mist Hunter.

And the only reason I have some ships (TIE Defender, Decimator, 2nd IG) is because I managed to snag them for 50% off. Hey, for half price? Might as well.
