POLL: What is a Nurgling....

By Armrek, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I've been on this forum for a little while now, and there's a lot of different experience with WFRP here. So in order to know how the fields is, I would like you to answer

HONESTLY - do you know what a Nurgling is?

After the first 50 answers I'll make a count and give status and update with every increment of 50 if it is a success. I look forward to see it it is a 50-50 or an over weight of newcomers or old WFRP players...

And after all I think Jay owes us a session demo video gran_risa.gif

Wont just one answer give it all away for anyone else? whether they know or not.

Yeah - are you expecting ppl to just post yes or no?

In which case, yes I do know what a Nurgling is. And so does anyone with access to wikipedia.

What I wan't is a simple YES of you I have heard of them through playing WFRP and where they origin from etc. or NO if you don't know them and their origin before you entered this POLL.

I will make a statistic like this:

I know 50%
I don't 50%

"What is a Nurgling?"

I don't know; I've never anurgled.

i'm an idiot - i have already reported my post above to the moderator to have it deleted - sorry :(

Those disgusting little creeps are hilarious!

Back in the mid nineties, there was a nurgling figure which was picking it's nose! And another was flipping the bird! HA HA HAH oh those little bastards...

Short answer, yes. They're gross and disturbing, and enjoy spontaneously bursting from a person's diseased stomachs. Ew.

Actually, what I think the OP is looking for is whether or not you know where the concept of the nurgling originated from. As in Nurgle (or Nergal "The Great Death") is an actual Babylonian deity of pestilence which you can even find mentioned in the Old Testament of the Bible (don't ask me where, I don't have mine in front of me at the moment). Nurglings would seem to be Rick Priestly or Richard Halliwell's attempt at making lesser servants for such a god, as I don't recall there actually being such a creature anywhere in actual Babylonian mythology...

Yes, I know what nurgling is.

My wife and I like to do some nurgling every now and then to keep the romance alive. sorpresa.gif

o...my.....gosh...*vomits* might want to get tested lengua.gif jk jk jk jk jk

Maybe its the little brother of a nerdling???

Yeah, I know what they are. I had a Nurgle warband. Back when Slave to Darkness and Lost and the Damned came out, they had rules for chaos warbands. We ran a game similar to Mordheim, but with chaos warbands (we made it up on the spot). My Nurgle warband was 15-1 thanks mostly to my plague hounds. I have about 40 or 50 nurglings left, plus two paliquins carried by Nurglings.

Daemons who genuinely enjoy their work (regardless of setting, these little buggers are always smiling and singing, which is unnerving in the extreme if the guy/gal using them can do a decent Chipmunks / Munchkins voice)

yeah...nasty little things....sooo creepy....ugh...tho i heard one dude call his kid a nurgling once....very funny

Talking about Nurglings has made me all nostalgic for the little buggers. I unboxed the warband and took a picture. You can see several stands of nurglings up front. Scattered amongst the various figures you'll find others. I used them to counter-balance most of the banner bearers (the banners are made from toilet paper and super glue and are pretty heavy). On the hill in the back, by the Chaos Sorceror paliquin, you can see a Nurgling familiar, complete with disgusting slime. In the background is a 'Lost and the Damned', a 'Slaves to Darkness' (fudged by the flash), and an old copy of WFRP1.

Edit: Doh! I forgot the greater daemon :/ Next time.

very nice....do i see plauge bearers, and old marauders and some beasts in there too? nice old figs dude!!

Actually, the old Mauraders are chaos knights that were converted into centaurs. We used 'mounted maurader' rules for them. They were fast calvary, ranged troops. My opponents hated them. The beastmen are actual 'Pestigors' (Beastmen of Nurgle). You don't see them too often anymore. It's mostly metal too. The only plasic there is the horse bodies of the centaurs (and the bases). The cultists (behind the Nurgle Knights) are probably the oldest figures in the lot. The 10 piece set was one of the first sets Citadel release back in the day.

Most of my figs are old like that. I bought them by the box-load back when they were cheap. Now a-days, they are too expensive. I limit my purchases to single figures and then only if they are amazing.

One of my players recently had a charming encounter with a Nurgling in chapter V of The Thousand Thrones :)

Yea I know what a Nurgling is, I am a warhammer GM, I own Tome of Chaos and have Played WAR (theres alot of the buggers in that game).
