They're certainly not the grippiest surfaces, but they look lovely, and they lie flat and don't move. In my experience mats that move or have wrinkles are a far bigger problem than your mini's sliding.

I glued a square piece of fun foam to the bottom of all my bases. It makes them dramatically less slippery on most surfaces as they don't slide AT ALL on the FFG play mats. Very happy with them.

Is that about what you mean, or did you get special thick kind? I imagine it needs to be pretty thick to reach under the edges of the base, or did you glue it to the edges?
