Nah. Thrawn always use upgrades not yet available, hence why it's called Thrawn's Field Test. He did the same with the Tie Advanced title when it was not yet available.

of course it's out. I've been hoarding HUNDREDS of "juke" cards, in fear it might fall into scummy (either kind!) hands..

I may have underestimated Juke. I didn't really think about how often people choose not to use focus tokens on defence, so I wasn't very impressed with it initially.

Why did they target lock so much? Especially the X-Wings. The only thing I can think of is so that if they roll straight hits they can have focus+target lock next round.

It's a player's thing I think. Some prefer to Focus, some to TL. I think the main reason is like you said, if you don't need it this turn, you keep it. There is also some players that is under the assumption that you have better odds to hit with a TL than a Focus.

Me, I personally always Focus unless I'm sure I won't be shot at. I played the Empire a lot when I began so I learned to never thrust green dice without a focus.... and there was not many imperial ship that could take a TL at first.

That was the reason in the first place.

And you have a chance to get a crit result.

But I think, next batrep I'm going to use Focus and after the shields of my target are gone, I'll switch to TL to get crits.
