Who is excited for The Inquisitor? TIE/V1?

By Chief Hugh, in X-Wing

I think I might be missing something; for those of you planning on giving this guy Juke, where is the Evade token coming from? He doesn't have the Evade action.

It comes from the TIE/v1 title. When you acquire a target lock, you get to take a free evade action.

If it turns out that the prototype can equip the x1 title, it will be the perfect counter to tlts: autothrusters and sensor jammer. On one ship.

We haven't really discussed the TAP since the TIE/fo was released. So let's compare, with what me know...

Base TIE/fo - PS 1 with 2/3/3/1 Tech 15 poitns

Base TAP - PS 2 with 2/3/2/2 Missile ???

Actions are almost identical with the difference being the FO can barrel roll and the TAP can boost.

PS 8 FO - 21 points Has a Tech slot and EPT

PS8 TAP - 25 points Has a Missile slot and EPT

The FO has an AMAZING dial. TAP will need to have something to justify the higher cost, or the base will need to be cheaper than the FO. I don't see that happening though. I'm guessing that PS 2 will cost 16 or 17 points.

I think it's okay if only the inquisitor sees play. If the ship sees use that is good enough for me.

He is very aggressively priced for a reasonably potent ability.

I am very interested in thread tracers as a way to increase the potency of a redline/deathrain + miniswarm build.

The title and Autothrusters will be why you bring the V1. You bring the FO for the dial (I am assuming, I doubt the V1 will have as good a dial as the V1). We are beginning to get into niche use ships, that will depend on your play style.

And given how successful I've seen 2 Atk ships be, I think it will be a very annoying ship to fight. And if the PS 4 has a EPT, oh my.

Put me in the "not ok" camp for only having 1 viable pilot. When compared to the FO (which is already of questionable value) I'm worried. It's going to need an awing dial with 1 speed maneuvers and sloops at that cost. I'm guessing the inquisitor is paying a point for his ability but that still puts the PS 2 model (different PS progression from FO I think) at 18.

It won't be able to. As much as we all want it to, it simply won't be able to. This was never the intent, and we'll probably get a Raider title errata fix in an FAQ, while leaving this part as-is.

What 2-attack ships have you seen be successful?

The V1 also comes with Boost, so...probably a better generic blocker than the /fo. It's no Zeta Ace but I'll make it work.

Giving the PS4 generic an EPT slot to really mimic the A-Wing would be nice too but I don't see that happening.

The v1 title seems about on par with the x1 title and an ATC or SenJam for example and would certainly give players another reason to buy the Raider.

I could see FFG allowing the x1 title on the Adv. Proto.

Here's the problem - it's still a 2-attack ship. The Inquisitor specifically is going to be a solid pilot, but it's only his ability that makes the ship worth using IMO. Sure it's defensive with the V1 title, but what good is a slightly less random defense when you've got such weak offense? I still say that a TIE Interceptor is better.

Dial better be insane.

If it is insane then the fo is dead as the TAP can mount AT and has 2 shields to the fo's one.

The FO only costs 15 points. And has the new "Tech" slot. And has a respectable dial. And can't be 1 shotted by a proton bomb / Advanced Homing Missile.

TAP will have to be in the 16-17 price range or it'll never get taken over the tie advanced.

Thats close enough to push FO's out the window if it has a good dial.

Have to see that dial!

But the point cost where inky will sit is a gap I often see in my lists.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Right where I can't fit in Fel, or would consider two Black TIEs.

You see the FO as being of questionable value? Have you flown it? I admit that I had doubts before flying with it, but I love the ships now.

Umm....Tie Fighters? Tie FO's?

The issue is that people get bogged down on only one option being the "best" at a certain level. Or even in a broad category. The V1 and FO are going to be extremely niche, and will likely depend more on player preferences than stats.

OT: Do you mind sharing some builds that have been working for you? Currently I'm having a hard time letting go of my Obsidians and I've been patiently waiting for Omega Leader. Omega Ace seems alright I guess, but I'd almost rather take a PS4 Int with PTL and AT.

I've mostly been playing:

Col. Vessery w/ VI

Maarek Stele w/ VI, EU

2 x Epsilon Pilots

I like to have somewhere between 4-6 ships in a list. I don't like less than 4 as when one dies, it's that much harder to win. I like throwing in any FO's you can into a list. I've really just messed with the generics. I've been on the receiving end of the guy who gives out all crits. Omega Leader? I call him "The Rapist". He's nasty.

I believe he brings good resistance (4 hull + 3 Agility + Autothrusters slot)

I believe he brings good resistance (4 hull + 3 Agility + Autothrusters slot)

I WISH he had 4 hull instead of 2 Hull, 2 Shields...

Why? To decrease the point cost?

sounds DERPy.

shields>hull

I'm sure the generics will be just a tad more expensive than the FO. I doubt it will have sloops though. Maybe T-roll to further distinguish it.

The field is getting very crowded with TiEs...but since we have two Advanced model now why not a third? TIE Avenger come on down!

The inquisitor and Carnor Jax could make a mean pairing. The Inquisitor can reduce range bonus dice and cancel an evade dice with juke whilst Carnor in the midst of the enemy ships denies focus and evade token usage. Carnor up close and the Inqusitor from afar....

Carnor Jax (35) TIE Interceptor (26), Push the Limit (3), Royal Guard TIE (0), Shield Upgrade (4), Autothrusters (2)

The Inquisitor (30) TIE Advanced Prototype (25), Juke (2), TIE/v1 (1), Autothrusters (2)

“Echo” (35) TIE Phantom (30), Veteran Instincts (1), Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Yeah I hope the TAP is the last two attack ship we see.

Empire needs more three attack ships and a small base turret ship.
