Who is excited for The Inquisitor? TIE/V1?

By Chief Hugh, in X-Wing

I think I have almost convinced myself that he is worth 25 points. What are your thoughts? Is he worth it?

Obviously he needs the TIE/v1 and probably PTL.

How do you all plan on using him and what upgrades?

Zertik says hi.

I cannot make out what it says. Do any of you know what the TIE/V1 does?

Here is my possible 100 point list

Captain O with predator

Vader with advanced fix

The Inquisitor.

TIE/V1 gives you a free evade action after you acquire a target lock. If you zoom in you can make it out in the spread image.

Looking forward to using the Inquisitor with the title and Juke. I think he's going to be a solid <30 point Ace to round out a lot of lists.

Inquisitor with V1 and Juke looks pretty solid. Target Lock, get the Evade, then attack with 3 dice while denying your opponent range bonuses and being able to change one of their evade results to an eye.

Edit: NINJA'D!

Super pumped about Baron Rudor!

Oh and I think Inquisitor with Vader and Soontir will be a thing.

Not sure what kind of thing, but it will be.

A.

Thing.

Well his usefullness really depends on the dial...

With respect to basic stats and actions, the new Tie Advanced Prototype acts as the Imperial A-wing. Which is very interesting, but also with the Interceptor and the Tie/FO a very crowded area. So it all comes down to the dial. Does it have 2-segnors, 1 hard turns, and how many green manouvers does it have.

Juke does look pretty good but for one point more I can get PTL. That way I'm likely to get three actions rather then just changing an evade to a eyeball result. Just my preference.

We will have to see the dial if PTL is worth it. He can then TL, Focus, and get a free Evade. Now that is nice!

I agree, though I don't really want to. Because of his ability always getting 3 dice And denying Range defense, along with pretty high PS, I'm thinking push is still best for him. Rudor might hey some use out of Juke, however, as he is stuck with 2 dice unless he gets close. Juke will definitely help some lower dice ships push hits through.

Depends on the dial.

I'm not really looking for another PtL platform because I don't think the dial is going to support it as well as the Interceptor, and beyond that the V1 is only a 2ATK ship anyway. The Inquisitor gets that bonus die at all ranges which is fun, but I think the flexibility of the title double-action works better with Juke or Outmanoeuvre or something that isn't Predator or PtL.

I hear that. A Royal Guard with PTL, AT, and stealth device also coming in at 31 points makes me question The Inquisitor. Or Vader with title for 30 points.

Nope. To hell with it.

He has TRACERS. Nothing of importance there!

Here's the problem - it's still a 2-attack ship. The Inquisitor specifically is going to be a solid pilot, but it's only his ability that makes the ship worth using IMO. Sure it's defensive with the V1 title, but what good is a slightly less random defense when you've got such weak offense? I still say that a TIE Interceptor is better.

Dial better be insane.

I'm extremely excited.

He's slightly cheaper than Soontir/Vader, I believe he brings good resistance (4 hull + 3 Agility + Autothrusters slot) with reasonably good offense, trading 1 attack dice at short range for one less green for the opponent at long range. Prockets alleviate the relatively weaker range 1 attack.

I'm not sure if he'll have a PTL-friendly dial, but the title gives him very good action economy: Focus + target lock + evade would be great.

And I don't think the Inquisitor is comparable to an A-wing - the extra dice means completely different play, he's best at R3 and not at R1, A-wings don't do much at R3.

Wait.... Inquisitor has an AT-AT on his card art! GROUND GAME CONFIRMED!

If it is insane then the fo is dead as the TAP can mount AT and has 2 shields to the fo's one.

Oh snap that's right, the V1 can mount Autothrusters.

Okay, so Inquisitor is looking to clock in at about 29 points with AT, Juke, and V1. I think that has some solid damage, defence, and PS. You can't even buy Fel with PtL for that.

And, honestly? With the number of 1AGI ships en vogue at the moment I don't see a problem with affordable 2ATK ships, especially if they have manoeuvre shenanigans.

The FO only costs 15 points. And has the new "Tech" slot. And has a respectable dial. And can't be 1 shotted by a proton bomb / Advanced Homing Missile.

He excels at sniping. Think of him as pretty much having a 3dice HCL that can crit and you're down the right path. He gets range 3 defense and denies opponents it with autothrusters he's tough to crack. Juke makes him even better or VI for ace sniping. He's very good and comes in at 29-30pts giving you a lot of wiggle room to fill your squad out.

I do worry about all the other pilots and generics for this ship.

Well, that's it folks. It just got real.

I think I might be missing something; for those of you planning on giving this guy Juke, where is the Evade token coming from? He doesn't have the Evade action.
