I like to cut up ships and re-paint them. Here are my rebels:

This is the current rebel flagship, 'Clear Skies'. It has some severe battle damage, as will all Rebel medium/large ships. They don't get to dock up for repairs much, as they are too fat.

Nebulon-B2 support refit 'Salvation'.

Nebulon-B medical support refit 'Redemption'.

Nebulon-B escort frigate 'Yvaris'.

CR90B 'Dodonna's pride'. It has engine techs and is the fastest ship in the fleet - effectively speed 5.

CR90A - 'Howling Griffon'

CR90A - 'Bronie'

CR90A - 'Barry McTavish's crusty turdbucket'

Love the Frigate modifications. And I really like the shades of brown on the Assault Frigate.

Clear Skies. Nice name, pretty scary damage (I think I've only seen Lyraeus's Scars of Freedom with that much pain heaped uponit). Interesting choice, but certainly a pleasant surprise by going with the soft brown tones and such a vibrant blue. I'd have never thought that it could work if I didn't see it right here. It's pretty great. -laughs- too fat for drydock though, that doesn't sound like a compliment.

Salvation and Yavaris are both absolutely fantastic, I've got nothing for praise for them. But that new white one, I haven't seen it before. Now that is very clean and it very much looks in the vein of a medical frigate (no pun intended).

Dodonna's Pride, that is a very 30's-50's Golden Era feeling ship. It reminds me of that ship from Space Dandy and... something, something I can't quite get it and I feel I should.

Howling Griffon... I see what you did there

Bronie, also very-very nice. Purple and white, it's such a rarity. You and Dras are the first that I actively recall that did the 'pall' pattern on CR90's. I'm very much moving in that direction too. That is, for whenever these things get restocked at my LGS.

Ah McTavish... Is that metallic paint on that rusty engine block? I have this horrible feeling that it's going to just frigging fall off

Nice work on all of them, But I really like the desert camo "in space" paint on the AF II

His is executed a bit better than mine... Picking a Natural line across the Cr90 to take the Diagonal on is a cleaner idea.

I deliberately cut across the straight sections, to bring attention to it.

It might just be worthwhile trying that Nebulon-B2 rebuild, too...

It does make it a pretty clear line, doesn't it? But yeah, I'm really liking that whole pall (or is it a 'fess' design?) Either way, it's pretty great. -Laughs- feel free to blame our local climate and altitude, Dras. I sure do and I swear it's absolutely true

But yeah, great concept, great execution, and pieces that I actually have laying around as principle parts of the conversion. All great stuff.

I have been watching Firefly recently. It's very funny after you have learned to speak Chinese, as a lot of the Chinese words in the show are filthy. My wife loves watching foreigners swear in Chinese so ruthlessly on American TV.

The idea with the Rebel fleet is that they are all dirty, patchwork pieces of crap that are slightly falling apart. I have tried to paint them up to look like the 57' chevy of a guy who gets an hours notice of his home being demolished every 3 months.

I have other updates, but I am crazy busy at the moment with my school's mid-term exams, parents' day and student comments. I'll try to put up rebel fighters either tonight or tomorrow night.

As a spanish speaker I can relate to that they do that too every time the show is set in Miami or in the South West

My cat has been determined to re-locate X-wings from my desk to under the sofa recently, but I scrabbled around until I had the whole lot back together again to take some photos.

I have 2 squadrons of 3 X-wings - this I guess is Rouge squadron (not sure as I am not that much into EU apart from the X-wing series of games). It is led by Wedge

This is Red Squadron, led by Luke.

This is Gold Squadron - I am going to add Nym and an HWK-290 in here soon

This is Blue Squadron - I have traded for a 3rd B-wing to make Keyan, and also traded for a second HWK-290

This is Green squadron. They are alone, but I like to run them in a pair as generic problem solvers who can live outside of ship activations.

That line up with Han Solo and Dash Rendar as wildcards will be my squadron lineup for the duration of wave 2. I still have some touch-ups to do on my Imperial ships and squadrons soon, I'll use this thread as motivation to finish them before new toys arrive around Christmas time.

Here is the list I am going with for the initial stages of wave 2: Mon Mothma's circus of irritation!

1. Foresight gets a double-buff - cancelling 2 dice at medium/long range (and ECM).
2. The 3 CR90as all get a redirect and a turbo-powered evade thanks to MM.
3. Dodonna's pride does the things the fastest ship in the fleet does best.
4. Redemption regenerates shields but stays largely out of harm's way.
5. Build total is 399, as my main empire opponent always builds for exactly 400.

I'm not sure what missions to go for though, as I can almost guarantee I'll be player 1.

Man, those squadrons are awesome. And I really, really love the B2 conversion. I find the rest of the ship mods/repaints a bit too aggressive - but even if the designs are not to my taste, the execution is certainly masterful.

Here are my Imperials - The 88th heavy fleet, otherwise known as the 'Iron Warriors'

Their flagship is the Dominator, an ISD1 retrofitted with enhanced launchers. It is meant to be the be-all-and-end-all of tabletop aggression. From the fanged red mouth that vomits black dice, the rebuilding of the bridge to be linear forwards and the slight tilting of the ship's nose downward, this entire ship is designed to look as aggressive as possible.

Also, if you look closely, the shield generator is in front of the stand, giving it a forward position on the base. That was not easy.

The 2 VSDs of the fleet are next. I usually use these as VSD2s with gunnery teams, as they are better against slippery rebel scum. Their names are the Terroriser and the Mesmeriser. I painted all the red windows with some basic jeweling, it was hard not to after painting so many bloody Eldar gemstones for so many years.

The Demolisher is the last ship. Dominator was designed to provide a visual link between the style of this ship and the rest of the fleet.

As for the squadrons: Here is Howlrunners TIE swarm. They are used quite often as a primary anti-bomber duty.

Here is Mauler Mithiel's Mad Mob - They find themselves often paired with the direction of Admiral Chiraneau onboard the Mesmeriser. He has a knack of bouncing round like a jackrabbit and shredding squadrons.

Major Rhymer's big ball finishes up the line TIEs - They are about to get reinforced with a 3rd bomber soon, as there will be an ISD1 with expanded hangars and enhanced comms to control them.

And last of all, the interceptors. I was focusing on getting the photo, I didn't notice qiuqiu until it was too late, the sneaky little bastard.

Really great work. I don't think I could bring myself to hack up an ISD that way. It's too iconic to "mess it up" for me (guess I'm a purist?). I also don't trust my conversion ability.

But that being said it all looks fantastic!

It's a VSD. I wouldn't hack up an ISD that way because I'll only ever buy one. I got my 3 VSD's thanks to a 'double shipping' screw up by a certain large internet company, and I also have a Melsminiatures Ton Falk on the way to play swapsies with it when I want to run a dedicated carrier VSD.

Painting the rebels is okay, as they are a multi-coloured freakshow but facing the 3rd VSD in your painting queue isn't easy when they all have to be pretty much the same colour.

I figured I had nothing to lose, so gave it a shot.

Wow... I don't know why I didn't realize that was a VSD model. I guess I'm still not completely awake (or maybe I have hangover eyes atm). Hacking up a VSD is all good. Again, well done sir!
