Redline and Oicunn

I don't normally run 2-ship lists on the Imperial side due to the general lack of durability and I prefer more ships. That being said what do you think of the list below? It has durability due to lots of Hull and some Shields.

Redline with Accuracy Corrector, Extra Munitions, Cluster Missiles, Assault Missiles, Proton Bombs, and Munitions Failsafe

Oicunn with Intimidation, Mara Jade, Ysanne Isard, and Anti-Pursuit Lasers

My strategy would be to use Oicunn to ram formations, cause stress and damage and thrive in the ensuing scrum. The Intimidation would help Redline land more hits. My first thought would be to trim Redline down a bit to cram in another ship, but I just can't get 12 points for an Academy or anything better.

It really doesn't have durabitlity, 0 and 1 agility means those guys melt quickly!

That being said I still think you can have some fun with this. Some pointers for your Redline build, though: FCS is significantly better with his ability and Cluster Missiles than ACs. I also am not sure if Assault Missiles will serve you better than Plasma Torpedoes or Flechettes. The Proton Bombs could also be dropped. You might also want to think about stunlock Oicunn with Ion Projector and Emperor Palpatine. That would change the list to:

Stunlock Oicunn by the way only works if you don't have initiative if I recall correctly, you might want to drop Redlines ATs for your old Munitions Failsafe or even entirely to ensure the right situation. If done right you can force a small base ace to stay put and repeatedly crash into it until it dies, removing it from the fight while the rest of the opponent list is on a clock to kill Oicunn, with Redline free to to punch them.

I agree with Deathrain-----FCS is absolutely essential on Redline. Its sort of like Soontir Fel and Push the Limit----they were made for each other.

I also think proton bombs should go. Redline is all about firing off ordnance, not bombs. Spend those points on more missiles/torpedoes!

I've never really been a fan of ion projector/anti-pursuit lasers on oicunn, because he does die quick to focus fire despite 12 hull + 4 shields. I'd rather go engine upgrade, personally, but between redline and his 4 dice R1 attack, you might kill stuff quick...

Thank you for the input. I made some slight modifications. I don't know what I was thinking not using Fire Control Systems. Should have been a no-brainer. I decided against Palpatine because I think it makes the Decimator even more of a target to be burned down. I also thought that the Ion Projector and Mara Jade were somewhat redundant so the Anti-Pursuit Lasers are back in to do some damage. Also, I don't think Munitions Failsafe will ever kick in with all the re-rolls Redline gets. The bombs are there because I have the points and I need to spend them on something right?

I'd still suggest dropping the proton bombs for another missile on redline. Anything. More clusters would be ideal, but even concussion missiles or assault missiles would be better for redline, imo.

If you go with a second set of clusters, you also have enough points to change the seismic charge to proximity mine---proximity mines are easier to hit high PS targets with Oicunn's PS 4.

Played a couple of games with the list (and lost both) and here are my thoughts. I need to learn to fly better. Redline was my MVP of both games. She just ripped ships apart with Cluster Missiles. I love the Proton Bombs because they did some real damage to ships. The Plasma Torps were not that impressive but I did not use them much. Fire Control System is a must-have. My Oicunn build and flying needs some real work. I am going to tweak things a bit to de-emphasize the ramming and increase my ability to do damage at range without actions if I ram.

Here is my revised list:

Redline with Fire Control System, Extra Munitions, Plasma Torps, Cluster Missiles, Proton Bombs, and Autothrusters (same as before)

Oicunn with Determination, Mara Jade, Ysanne Isardl, and Gunner

I am thinking about ditching the Autothrusters and Plasma Torps from Redline and doubling down on Cluster Missiles. That leaves her vulnerable at Range 3. Maybe Assault Missiles or Homing Missiles instead of Plasma Torps.

Here's a core of what I think Redline needs to do decently:

FCS, extra munis & cluster missiles = 35

You've got the nasty cluster shot, but not much else, so it would be nice to increase her ordnance...

And here's the core of what I feel is the 'best' loadout for Oicunn:

Predator, engine upgrade, gunner & rebel captive = 57

Predator + Gunner means oicunn almost always does damage when he shoots, whether or not he has any tokens (or bumps to deal damage). Engine upgrade and rebel captive are purely for survival: use the engine to get out of firing arcs and if someone still has a shot, well they take a stress for it and become more predictable next turn.

Together, you only have 8 points left. I would use that last bit to purchase upgrades that will make your toughest matches easier. So ask yourself, what are you afraid of facing? Soontir or other high PS aces? Then put Vader crew on Oicunn (with Gunner & Vader, you will kill the likes of Soontir, Whisper or similar very easily). Twin laser turrets? then get proton torpedoes on Redline because they don't have enough shields to protect them from the crit your torp will deal. Swarms? Then assault missiles on Redline. Tough ships with lots of health but low agility? Then more cluster missiles!
