So, I got to the tournament an hour early today, and while I was sitting down outside in the cold, I pondered what list I would take.
I asked myself, "Can you take 4 nebs and some squadrons at 300 points?"
Yes, you can.

Game one was against VVGG version of the GenCon special.
Mission was Opening Salvo, with me as Player Two... I had a lot of potential this game, that was squandered by poor dice rolls.
For example, when Salvation decided to open up, I grabbed my 3 Reds. Added 2 Black for the Opening Salvo. Added 1 Black for Concentrate fire...... and promptly rolled Blanks and 5 single hits, which were braced down to 3 and redirected away. That could have been some serious damage to an already hit Gladiator.
Lost this game by 51 points in the end.
Game 2, I was against a VGG with Rhymer and 3 Buddies.
I took first player this time, and played Precision Strike.
Victory set up in the middle of the table, Insidious and Gladiator picked a flank each.
I lined up all 4 Nebulons in front of the Victory, and decided to play Chicken.
I broke off 1 Nebulon and assigned it 2 B-Wings, to deal with Demolisher. It only got front arc shots as I bored down on it, and the B-Wings ended up finishing it off.
I threw an A-Wing into his Rhymer ball, and once it was down to 1 hull, followed it up with the second. But most of the game, I flew 3 Nebulon Bs straight down the Throat of a Victory II and out the other side... He called it in Turn 5 when I'd lost a single A-Wing, and he'd lost everything but Insidious which was barely in Red-Dice Rear Range of 3 Nebulons.
Game 3 was against almost the same as the Second, except replace Rhymer and Bombers with Vader and 3 Advanced. I was in 4th Place, playing against 2nd Place.
This was a Hyperspace Assault, with Demolisher as the Hyperspacer. Unfortunately for me, I misjudged my distance to 1 token, letting Demolisher move in on the 3rd Round having his choice of side Arc shots. The Nebulons ended up being very survivable with their double braces... I lost Yavaris fairly quickly, but took out the Victory with Screed in return. I ended up losing a Second Nebulon in turn 5 to the second Gladiator...
In the end, Demolisher had 2 hull remaining and was out of the fight. The other Gladiator had 1 hull remaining, I threw 2 Reds at him, needing 2 Hits, or 1 Crit... Got only one hit which was evaded away. Lost this game by 60 points. That Gladiator kill would have gotten me its points, and saved a 51pt Nebulon B, which would have shifted the MOV over 50 points in my favour.
In the end, I shifted to 5th. My final opponent went into the 4th game (as this was a Sullust!) and took Victory using the 400pt Ackbar list I gave him.
5th out of a field of 14 was pretty good, considering that I made the list up just before the tournament with no practice.
Second time I've done that. I should really consider taking lists that I know how to fly to Tournaments.........
