Resolved in the wrong order, a player would lose out on three hull damage. Cool, amirite? Here is a crazy scenario.
A Dodonna MC30 Torpedo boat with Assault Proton Torpedoes (APT) and Heavy Turbo Lasers / XI7 rolls total 6 dmg damage with black crits against an ISD front arc (4 shields).
Defender chooses to only use Brace
You use your APT critical effect, choose Projector Misaligned, resolve immediately to eliminate the most shielded hull zone in this case being the front.
Resolve 6 dmg Braced to 3 dmg directly onto the hull for a grand total of 3 face downs, 1 face up and 4 shields gone.
Ouch.

I think that's a fair comment, cuban! We'd had multiple requests to shop talk objs so figured we'd try it.
I do have a 13 month old that is not letting me get sleep I think it has more to do with that.
It gets easier!
When?
When?
Right after they move out.

hah! My daughter turns 4 in a few days, and she's gone from being a small helpless mammal to someone I love hanging out with!
I don't sugar coat it. People who say the birth of their kid was the most magical day of their life? Awesome for them, but that wasn't the case for me. I'm not saying I didn't instinctively love the little thing, but it's mostly terror followed by 2 years of sleeplessness. BUT eventually a little personality starts to evolve, and it gets pretty awesome.
For the record, the kid loves Star Wars. She wanted Darth Vader on her birthday cake. I tried to talk her out of it, since there's no way people there don't assume I talked her INTO it. But, she persisted, and now she's getting a vader cake.
Pretty solid!
expecting my first any week now (I have accepted my wife will go into labor while I'm in line or viewing E7)
Hello, John,
Hello, John,
In response to your question:
Rules Question:
In Star Wars:Armada, if a ship has Gunnery Team equipped, and is also designated the objective ship in a game using the Advanced Gunnery objective, may it still choose to use the Advanced Gunnery ability over the Gunnery team and shoot the same enemy ship from the same hull zone?
In this case, Advanced Gunnery supersedes Gunnery Team. The second player is not penalized for choosing to equip Gunnery Team.
Thanks for playing!

Took them a little while to get back to me, and I think we already came to that conclusion, but there it is.
Good to know. I'm glad they ruled on that side as well (though I'm still waiting for Precision Strike to give me something as player 2 with Garm. Make it an objective marker to be spent for the effect à la Opening Salvo). Admittedly, at this point "The Golden Rule" is starting to look a whole lot more like "The Pyrite Suggestion."
Post Scriptum: You know what, at this point I guess it's worth an inquiry, isn't it?

Precision Strike assigns a Concentrate Fire token to each of player 2's ships after deployment. Garm Bel Iblis issues tokens at the start of the first and fifth turn equal to a ships command value. As you can't have more tokens than your command value (you must chose one and discard it) and you may not have two or more of the same token (they are also discarded), then Precision Strike seems to offer no perceivable bonus to player 2 who has taken Bel Garm Iblis. Given that the Advanced Gunnery supersedes the base rule, it might be worthwhile to see if this does the same.
-shrugs- I wouldn't have questioned it before, but I figure 'why not ask' as the Mission is prioritized over the upgrade card. I know the time isn't identical, but it's functionally the same (end of deployment and start of first turn being contiguous) and one mitigates the other.
Edited by VykesI think Precision Strike is just a bad choice with Garm, sadly.
I think you're paraphrasing what I said about Advanced Gunnery a few days ago ![]()
Not that I disagree, but I'm a little unnerved by the: "The second player is not penalized for choosing to equip [upgrade card]." I'm no rules wizard, I don't stake any supposed reputation on it, I just want to make sure that my perception of the Rules as Written match the Rules as Intended. I mean, I got burned on the XI7 re-ruling which was 'based on future balance considerations' par their article, so I want to make sure that everything works the way they sound before they crop up mid-game.
After all, "I shot a bear with a gun." Tell me what it means, sensei! ![]()

Well but, I was right then. ![]()

Its Irrelevant, because you are a Canadian, and thus you promptly Apologised.
-laughs- I didn't say I was wrong? I must rectify that: sorry mate, I was wrong.
Thou art entitled to the spoils of victory, MoV is 8-2 on the North American Linguistics table. If you win the next round, you`ll be in contention for a 2 for 1 no-fat cream-cheese celebratory latté coupon from Farbucks.
Much like the XI-7, I am actually happy they decided to go with that ruling as it`s probably for the best. I might not like every call they make on a linguistic level, but I'm trusting them on a game-balance perspective.
Post Scriptum.... that is how it works Dras, that is how it works ![]()
I'm super bummed about this episode because it means I'm all caught up now. I've been marathoning iff since I got back from worlds and started playing armada more. I'm totally hooked, you guys do a great job, can't wait to listen to this one and I'm already eager for your wave 2 podcast.

i think Dan-o uses a 25 letter alphabet. He seems to have lost his R's somewhere ! ![]()
I have another question! For cards like ACM or APT where it says "on crit" deal X damage to D facings or deal one face up damage card, is that per crit on that roll? So if my buddy has ACMs and he tossed 4 black dice with 3 crits showing, does the card proc 3 times?

In Short, No. One or more Critical Dice showing allows you to resolve "A" Critical Effect. One. Singular.

Dan is the highlight of the show. I'd listen to him reading a dictionary
