New player Imperial lists?

By Trevarious, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey all! so I've played a bit of X-wing before but I decided to dive in for the Imperials, I got a bunch of models and I want to set up a decent list or a few out of them in prep for a tournament at my LGS next weekend :D

I understand a large part of any game is more than just list building, it's playing and learning the tactics (Coming from Warhammer player so I've learned this lesson before :P ) however I want to run something that isnt inherently weak so that I stand a chance of learning and doing well- so it would have to be a list that is slightly forgiving of beginner mistakes, I am leaning towards fewer better ships instead of a swarm, until I get the full hang of moving

The models I have available (and all the cards that come with them)

2X Tie-FO from the Core II set

1X Tie Advanced

1X Tie Interceptor

1X Tie Phantom

1X Lambda Shuttle

1X Firespray-31

So I had this idea:

Vader (29) with Expose (4) - 33

to take advantage of his 2 actions, one to up his damage the other to barrel roll out of the other ships firing arc, maybe stealth device (3) and/or Cluster missiles(4) [or some other missiles]?

Turr Phennir (25) with Veteran Instincts (1)- 26

Bounty Hunter (33) with Assault missiles (5) for anti-swarm and an Ion cannon (3) - 41

cluster missiles could also fit here? or slave one for proton torpedos?

or I could drop the bounty hunter and go- whisper + Advanced cloaking and sensor jammer for 40

any thoughts? am I on a decent idea or two or am I crazy!?

Thanks everyone!

Don't let anyone tell you a list is no good, fly things right and anything can be put to good use. That being said, the changes I'd make are more to my style of the ships you mentioned wanting to play with.

Vader is a nice start. Rather than Expose, I'd give him Squad Leader. Share an action when needed. Especially helpful for the next change I'd make.

Omega Ace can do 2 automatic crits, scary and annoying for enemies. Vader can give him an action, so he can do a Focus and Target Lock every round if you want. Then we get really nasty and set Expose here. When we can get away with prepping a Target Lock in advance of a shot, now we auto crit for 3. Mmm mmm good.

So far we have maneuverable ships so it is up to you if you want to continue that trend or keep your Firespray. For the Firespray, load the Bounty Hunter with the Assault Missiles, but also a Proximity Mine for any pesky ships tailing too close. Also, it's aways good to have a Rebel Captive on your ships that's an easier target.

OR

We go with the clever maneuvering build and use the Phantom. I'd use Echo because I love Echo, use him right and no one knows where he'll be. I put on Sensor Jammer, Gunner, Advanced Cloaking Device and Veteran Instincts.

Sorry about the double thread everyone, I thought my first post was denied by a moderator, so I made a different one, then they both went through

Thanks for the advice through, it is very helpful!
