Tournament Kit Prizes for TOs

By zerotc, in X-Wing

(Was going to post this in the Organized Play sub-forum, but it doesn't seem to get nearly as much traffic.)

What's the generally accepted policy on TOs getting prizes from tournament kits?

I've attended some local tourneys where the TO didn't get to play any games while judging for 5 hours. I think it would have been appropriate for the TO to get the top 4 prize at least in those cases.

Or do the tournament kits include prizes for the TO?

They include TO copies of most prizes in each kit.

Makes sense. Thanks for verifying.

I think alot of kits have prizes for TO's. I only been TO once and i was playing as well since it was a small x wing game night and I didn't get any extra prizes but I did finished 3rd.

I remember one of the playmats from this years conquest regional being without the text and made for the TO. I don't know if he also got the top 4 prizes.

Each of the FFG organized play kits contain a prize for the head judge.

In the 2015 Winter Kit the judge would get a copy of the Gunner card, a bag and a set of extra munition tokens.

It's actually only the extra gunner, that is why there is seventeen copies.

Actually there is no defined structure to the season kits. So it's really up to the store that purchased the kit.

Except for regionals kits. Those usually only have the card and the top 8 prize (not the top 16 or top 4 prizes).

I spent a ton of time prepping to run a regional and I just got the Fett card and dice (that I don't use because they don't roll hits or evades well).

2016 store Champ kits has specific prizes for the TO. I've never seen a seasonal tournament kit used any other way than the prizes being for top 4.

Yeah, I think there is a Gunner and Vader Alt Art for the TO. The rest is for top four, ideally. Same in the card game kits. I do think the Store Champ kits have nicer stuff for the judge, though.

Every event I've been to from our local area and to much of an extended area have all paid out everything in the kit as prize to the top 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16 shots as the break down. At one store though they deviated from this and attendance tanked as a result. Most of not all in the area felt they had been cheated prizes. Though the instructions don't explicitly say that, it seems to be the accepted practice. This thread ads credit to that belief
