This is supposed to be a little presentation of myself.

I'm from Portugal and a friend spoke to me about this game. I've been playing card games for quite some time now (i think around 8 years) and currently play Magic: The Gathering and Pokemon Tcg.

When she spoke to me about CoC Lcg I was intrigued and decided to go for it. Bought the Core Set and I'm just wondering what is the next step.

I have a couple of questions that I would be deeply thanked if you could lend me an hand.

1) If there was to be an organized playing network here, what would be the format? Is that pre-defined or is the organizer who decides it?

2) In terms of future purchases what do you think is a good Asylum pack to aquire ?

3) How do find out where there are organized play networks in your area?

Welcome ashmadaeva,

The LCG cards are what are officially sanctioned. But league kits are distributed allowing for great latitude among servitors to create their own tourneys. Official rankings is a mystery to me. Use these boards to find players in your area. Pick up any AP. Use the Deck Builder to decide for yourself which one suits you best. If you happen upon older CCG cards with black borders, play them too. Just draw the shades first.

So what you mean is that there is no "official" format? The tournament organizer decides which cards to allow in his tournaments? I wasn't sure at first if you could use cards from the old CCG days in sanctioned tournaments but from your answer it seems that the organizer is the one that decides if that is to happen or not.

I will be sure to look into de deckbuilder feature you gave me. Thanks a lot!

I'm not really the one to say, but surely big tournaments like that in Europe recently are run LCG. GenCon Champ was LCG. Origins will surely be too. CCG Black Border play is frozen in time. Mixed border play has been photographed in the wild. These photographs, suspect because very grainy, are all the more proposterous in that any would dare. To corroborate these wild allegations, a Safari Expedition is set to depart at dawn, a heavily armed party on elephant and camel. Few are expected to survive.

Actually the only support are league kits, which have begun to be distributed in Spain by Edge (not arrived yet :-P )

CCG is not frozen nor died, simply not sanctioned.

You can see there are three constructed formats: Legacy (which combines CCG and LCG cards), LCG (only LCG cards) and 3-Year (played with the cards released the last three years, no available to CoC yet); and of course a lot of limited formats: Booster Draft, Highlander, Peasant....

To organize a tournament you simply need four or more players!
