Engine Upgrade

By lordzel, in X-Wing

The Palpmobile tends not use Engine Upgrade. And really, I think how important Engine Upgrade is tends to follow what your play style.

I don't think any shuttle needs EU, just a knowledge of positioning, some foresight, and the ability to block yourself without consequence

This extends over to the scum shuttle, the YV-666

both are capable of stellar offense without actions (Vader, gunner + fcs, gunner + bossk, K4 etc.), so you can block yourself without consequence and use it to help maintain wide firing arcs on the opponent's ships

EU is only really necessary on the character Firesprays, because you can really abuse it with the rear arc & high PS + action efficiency ala K4

putting it on any other arced LARGE ship seems a waste, because you're just ultimately just making really sh*tty Aggressors

Because Palpmobile flies with a couble of dudes who can boost per base?

Boostless Aces are a myth.

you mean "shuttle aces" are a myth

boost on a shuttle is really like training wheels on a (space) cow

Well, I'm a HUGE fan of boost and even Daredevil on 666.

Wedge did pretty well recently. With only Predator. I don't see Luke with Engine Upgrades too often. Especially once Integrated Astromech is released, I foresee plenty o fX-wings not taking Engine Upgrade.

Cards that grant Boost/Barrel Roll will always be powerful. Hell, I'm getting back into using Expert Handling. Used it on a HWK today. Hilarious.

Gave EH a run on some Black Sun Aces yesterday. Was good fun, got them out of arc on quite a few occasions, the stress wasn't too bothersome but lack of modifiers was (as always). Ditching Target Locks was hilarious though

EU is a good upgrade, it allows stiffer ships a bit more latitude of movement. With higher PS the more you gain from it.

I always find it funny when people say they can't outmaneuver a PWT, always shows the posters skill level in easy to read format. Also Sith how have you missed this guy posting about "boost wing" for the last 2 weeks? He uses it when ever he can. Makes me laugh every time. Though I do have a feeling it will get old sooner or later.

1.) You really can't outmaneuver a child smearing ice cream on his face. Move wherever the hell you want your dumb turret to go and it will always have a shot. In 6 TIE Fighter arcs? Boost away at 9 PS! See, now you're only in 2 arcs, one of which can just be C-3PO'ed. Time for a range one Predator gunner shot!

2.) The Boostwing complainer guy is right. When you've already invested 40-60 points into some thing, paying an extra 4 points is really nothing for the ability to dodge arcs at a high PS with half your damned list.

If it were impossible to outmaneuver PWTs, both of the top lists at Worlds 2015 would have had PWTs. Clearly that didn't happen.

I outmanoeuvre PWTs all the time. It's called blocking and the number one reason I keep a Prototype A-Wing in my four-ship Rebel lists whenever I can fit it in. Not to mention Boost doesn't help you against TLTs.
